Hint tho, pay for 30 days up front, you'll save a few hundred by not paying sales tax.

The quote they gave me was $49 a night... at that rate, I may as well stay in a regular motel 8 for 30 days and pay about $30.00...

problem for us is we have 3 cats and a MIL. We don't want to stay in one bedroom w/her so either we have to get a 2 room or get her her own room. She picks her nose too much and is in the bathroom ALOT.. so there are things we need to look at.

Have you or anyone heard of The Outlook Apartments? They rent monthly for short term but don't know the area and if the area is decent we'd give them a call about accepting cats.

I think I will look into those Apartments...

What'd you guys find out about those apartments? Any luck finding a good "extended stay" place to crash for a month while looking for permanent arrangements?

A real dump of a hotel in Anchorage goes for about $80 a night in the summer time. Slightly better hotels go for about $150 to $200 a night.

While I can not shed any light on what the Outlook Apts are like, I can give you an idea of what the location is like. I use to have an apt in the complex next to the Outlook. I got rid of the apt when they started renting units out to a company that runs halfway houses. The area is low to middle class with a few upper end condos. The area is safe enough for adults. However if you have children you will want to supervise them when outside. There is a greenbelt area a couple blocks away. A lot of street people tend to hang out there. The area is known for drug dealers and prostitutes.

If your their in the summer season UAA rents out dorms rooms for $50 a night. Private clean rooms but if it fills up you do have to share a bathroom.

By browsing craigslist every night I found a furnished rental in the area I wanted to live (meadow lakes area) that is letting us stay there on a month to month basis for $1000 a month + elec. ($32.25) a day for a 2 bedroom place. Can't beat that while we look for a bigger longer stay place to lease/buy.

Just gotta keep your eyes open.
