I think it's a bit sad as YOU haven't been able to do things YOU want to do. We know a bit about your husband, but from this last post HE sounds like someone who would be a lot happier where life is easier, and to me a bit more boring.
OK flame if you wish but he sounds like a lazy SOB.
But I'm beginning to like you.
Please enjoy your visit to Hawaii. I think you will both find something there you like. But whatever - just get out there and 'do it'.

Well the cold and the dark really get to me too and I miss city life. I did want to experience all that Alaska stuff and I still want to try it. It's just that I'm more of a try it for a little bit and then move on to something else type of personality. I enjoyed my first couple of winters b/c they were exotic and different than anything I'd ever experienced. But now it's hard for me to keep repeating them. Each winter feels like it comes earlier and lasts longer and I feel like summer is over in the blink of an eye. When it comes to where I actually live, I want to live in a place where all I have to do to go anywhere is throw on a pair of sandals and run out to my car. I didn't mind putting on all the clothes to go out when it was the first time and I was experiencing something new. But now, it just feels old and tired and seems like so much work just to live. It's like, okay, I've seen the northern lights now. That was cool. But I miss my shopping mall. And that's the difference between visiting a place for awhile and appreciating it and wanting to stay there and actually live.
I can't fault my hubby too much - I married a man like my father who was all booksmart but not much about roughing it. My dad told me I was nuts for moving to Alaska in the first place. :-)

Well it warmed up and the sun came out yesterday. That did wonders to improve my mood.

Good! Have you gone up to Chena Hot Springs and relaxed in the pond at all?

I haven't gone to Chena Hot Springs this year, but I have been before and I do like that place.

We don't want government handouts or interference, we just want the government to stay out of our lives. If someone needs help, then we will provide it, either individually or as a community, without government involvement.
