ASD schools closed due to icy road conditions:
Administrative facilities open; employees should report with caution
All Anchorage School District schools will be closed today, Wednesday, January 14, 2009, due to icy road conditions. ASD administrative facilities, including the Education Center, will be open. Employees are encouraged to report to work only as road conditions allow them to safely do so.
ASD schools will reopen tomorrow, Thursday, January 15.

Alaska USA Alaska and the Council School Age Child Care Program school closure alert:
The Anchorage School District has announced that Anchorage Schools will be closed today (January 14) due to inclement weather. Parents should be advised that Camp Fire will provide full day program for enrolled youth at the following designated schools.
Homestead Elementary: Designated site for participants from Chugiak, Ravenwood, Fire Lake and Alpenglow.
Denali: Designated site for participants from Chugach Optional, Inlet View, Government Hill and Airport Heights.
Lake Otis: Designated site for participants from Russian Jack and Rogers Park.
Nunaka Valley: Designated site for participants from Scenic Park and Susitna.
Sand Lake: Designated site for participants from Campbell, Klatt, Oceanview, Gladys Wood and Chinook.
Spring Hill: Designated site for participants from Abbott Loop, Trailside, Polaris and O'Malley.

The University of Anchorage Alaska has also followed suit, as has Alaska Pacific University, shutting down all operations on all campuses.

Fort Richardson Delay:
Because the road conditions today the Fort Ricardson garrison commander has authorized all military and civilian employees to delay reporting to work this morning until 10 a.m. For more infomration, call 384-INFO.

Anchorage Transit Services:
Effective immediately, People Mover buses will not operate due to icy road conditions. We will monitor the conditions hourly to determine when buses will resume service.
AnchorRIDES service has been reduced to essential trips only. Essential trips include trips to dialysis, cancer treatment, and trips to get essential oxygen or medical supplies.
