Here in Montana normal price per pound is 8.99

We figured it would be cheaper over there where salmon is more abundant and fresher.
At $8.99/pound that must be either Chum or farmed salmon. I have never seen wild Alaskan salmon (Reds, Silvers, or Kings) for less than $12/pound. Like most Alaskans, I also don't buy salmon. There just seems to be something inherently wrong with buying salmon when they virtually swim past your doorstep.

Last summer was particularly bad. The coldest and wettest summer in south central Alaska during the last 17 Summers I have experienced. I ran out of salmon by the end of September.

This May, you will find me at Ninilchik catching my limit. I don't want to suffer through another bad salmon summer like the last one. So I plan on catching a lot, and catching them early.

Within the city limits of Anchorage? I only know of three places: Campbell Creek for Silvers, Ship Creek for Kings, and Russian Jack Lake in Russian Jack Park for land-locked Silvers.

Bird Creek, 20 miles outside of Anchorage towards Girdwood - reds and silvers. Jim Creek has a good run too. Knik inlet. Trout are stocked in many cit and borough lakes. Mat-Su Valley is full of streams and lakes full of fish. Most lakes have no limit on Northern Pike, if they are in them (invasive species and they eat younger salmon and trout). Kenai Peninsula, either off Seward, or from Cooper Landing through Kenai and Soldotna down to Homer, has the best fishing in South Central AK. (Don't tell Rance, he already knows he lives in paradise and doesn't need a swelled head.)
