DirecTV vs. cable in Eielson
My hubby and I are moving to Eielson this coming June. We currently reside in the Sacramento area and have DirecTV. I was interested in hearing from people who might have DirecTV in the Fairbanks area to know what sort of reception you get during the winter months, what HD stations are available, etc. Just basically if you like it or dislike it and why and if we should continue our service with them up there (our contract is up, so we're not obligated to stay with them).
I've heard a lot about GCI from the forums. can anyone tell me how reliable they are? Good customer service, fair prices, HD channels, etc?
Any help would be great! Thanks!!

DirectTV has more selection choices. Cable has better customer service. be wise to try them both out. stick with better one that fits your lifestyle for Anchorage. yes indeed.

We loathe DirectTV and will give them no business.
We like Dishnetwork and have them as a provider. Are they an option in Ak?

I'm not sure. I have always used GCI as my cable provider and although they are pricey, I have never had a real complaint with them. Their service tends to be a little slow, but once they are on the job, they are there until it's done.
I know there is a dish provider, but don't know if there os one or two or even who they are.

We had directtv for only a couple days here in anchorage, and then quit it cause it never worked right, but you can get service here and dish network as well.

Eielson AFB? That's not Anchorage, but past Fairbanks, and then North Pole.
