My sons now take moose for granted. And my oldest was on a large landing craft doing seismic exploration for 6 months has gotten his fill of orca, whales and various sea mammals. But, he's in his 20's and doesn't understand why his cousins, aunts and uncles are jealous.

Oh to be 20 something again! Not a care in the world...& while I'd LOVE to see all the wonderful things your son did, after our recent ferry ride, I don't believe I'll be going on the water ANYTIME soon! Did he take any photos?

Some, but when he got off of the boat, he bought his first real camera, a Rebel with a whole bunch of lenses.

Mal - I've been here a short time but I totally agree! When I see them it is a humble reminder that they live here - I'm visiting
Can one have too many moose photos??????????

I "AM" here, aren't I! I cannot wait to get my 35mm (it's in my household goods!) to take even BETTER photos. Sorry....I think digital cameras are good for some stuff, (like when dh was in Korea, I could document the kids growth, etc,) but I totally prefer a regular old 35mm!
AND from those photos, I can start painting / drawing / woodburning! YEAH!

Thank you Grannysroost, AKVarmit, & All You Other Great Alaskan Folks...thanks for the welcome! I plan to learn everything I can from you experts! Hope you don't mind me picking y'alls brains! ((And yes, I'll read the archives BEFORE doing so!)) We just found out we will get our base house on the 16th of next month! I'm SO looking forward to having our "stuff!" rather than living out of suitcases! By that time, it'll have been 3+ months!!! I know, I know...others have it WAY worse, but ykwim! And my poor dog is stuck in doggie jail til then!
Some GOOD news is that my desert bred husband is LOVING the snow! I KNEW I would convert him eventually...
Ok...babbled enough! Night y'all!
