Talking spring break trip to anchorage

Hey,
My husband and I live in Fairbanks and want to spend a few days down in Anchorage. It will be our first time down there. Do you know of anything special going on during the 2nd week of March? Any suggestions on certain areas to stay or things to do that might be different than the things we have in Fairbanks? What do you consider a MUST SEE in Anchorage?

Maybe cruise down to Girdwood and do some spring skiing if nothing else. Beautiful drive along the way. The scenery is good up on the mountain...you can ride the tram up if you don't ski.

Saturday, March 7th, at 10:00 AM is the fake start of the Iditarod in downtown Anchorage for all the tourists. The real start of the Iditarod is on Sunday, March 8th, in Willow at 2:00 PM.
