I'm sure we have all been there. You know when you look back at a situation you went through and said if only I had the information I have now back then then things would have turned out differently.

Right now I'm in need of information. Information that could possible keep a friend from making a decision he would regret. He has fought a long battle to gain partial custody of his kids and now is being harassed by the ex constantly, when the kids are with him and when they are not. I won't go into specifics but the situation has gotten so bad that he is considering just giving up an walking away.

What I'm asking of you kind people is some information. Where to go, who to go to, what legal options he has as a father to stop the harassment and just be free to spend the little time he has with his kids. Unfortunately money is an issue so if there are any free or affordable legal resources out there I'd like to know about them.

Also, is there a great attorney out there who has been successful in dealing with these kinds of cases?

At this point we just need to be pointed in the right direction. Hoping someone out there has the answer.

Alaska Legal Services is where you are going to have to start. If they can't do it they should be able to refer you to someone that can.

I don't know of any free or cheap services (looks like the post above may help) but if the opposite spouse hires the best lawyer in town it's probably not going to go very well. All the divorces that end messy usually end up costing $50,000+, by the time both parties are done fighting there's nothing left to divide up. And sad to say, the party with the best lawyer usually wins (baring a huge character flaw - i.e. crack addict).

Don't give up, fight until you've got nothing left because in the end if all you have are the kids, you'll still be rich.
