Exclamation Catfish!

Hello All,

Where can I buy catfish and it's not super expensive? Where I moved from, catfish was one of the cheapest fish one could buy at the grocery store.

I don't think you will find fresh catfish in Alaska. I'm sure New Sagaya's has some though.

I've bought frozen catfish chunks a couple of times at Fred Meyer's in Fairbanks. I haven't seen them sold fresh here. They are a freshwater fish from the south. However, there are some good Alaskan fish sold here.

I always thought that Talipia tasted a lot like catfish. Though I don't bread and fry Talapia, I personally thought the flavor was very very similar.

Chum, I think is alittle like catfish, Its breads up and frys real nice. The meat is more white and less oily than the other types of salmon we caught. My least favorite was the pinks, the ones that were just out of the salt were real red and where pretty good put the ones that were in the river for awhile kinda got mushy and alittle fishy. The few silvers we caught were alot better, and the very few reds dont even belong in the same catagory.
