Hello All,

My family and I are moving to Anchorage this summer from Olympia, Washington. We have a 7yr old that will start the 2nd grade. Looking at best neighborhoods/schools. 30+ minute commute is just fine.

Thanks you so much for your time!
Have a most wonderful day.

Hello Warp,

I am sure you hate these posts but I would much rather get insight from folks like you then some silly internet search from a writer that lives in tin-buck-too.

good question, well like to stay under 350K and even lower if possible. Is Wasilla bad? So if I get up there by mid July will I be able to hunt as a state resident? Guess I should look. Can't wait to fish and hunt and teach the little one ice hockey!

State resident for fishing license is that you have to be a resident for 1 year or longer. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT mess with fish and game in Alaska. At least here in Kodiak they make it a priority to screw people over if they even smell anything remotely wrong.

Thanks for the tip Jason. I have to much respect for Alaska and it's resources to do anything against the law. Plus I will be a state employee, engineering and environmental back ground. I will wait my time and hunt with a camera for a year, help my neighbors.

You can still fish/hunt, just have to pay as an out of state resident instead of state resident so...it costs more. No big deal.

There are tons of posts on this forum that answer your very questions, the only reason warpt went is because it was clear that you didn't take the time to look or use the search function on these message boards. I don't want to come across as rude, that's not my intention, but do a simple search in the search box for "good schools in Anchorage" or "good neighborhoods in anchorage" or "Eagle River."

You will go a long way toward pleasing those who spend hours answering these questions (most of them the same 3 or 4 questions every week) and you'll find information that you hadn't even thought to ask that would be very good to know.
