There is a Rent-a-Center here in Anchorge somewhere, I have seen their truck driving around. There are motels that do weekly rentals until you find a place of your own. DM me for any specifics in Anchorage. In the valley, or elsewhere, you'll have to find someone else.

The following info is just my opinion, but perhaps it will help you in making the best choice for your trip to Anchorage.

I have driven to Anchorage & back on 4 occassions. I have taken the Ferry system once. And I have flown twice.

If I were in your position, I would drive. Your fuel cost will be approx $600/$700, plus meals and whatever lodging you may choose to use.

I'm sure you have checked out the costs related to:

Your Air Fare: (including checked baggage & and maybe extra checked baggage.

Cost of shipping your P.U. (and the possible risk of whatever you have in the bed of your PU being stolen while in transit by the shipper.)

The cost of rental car in Anchorage until your PU arrives.

Also the convenience of having your own vehicle and being able to put as much in the PU Bed of certain personal items, would be a consideration.

If you have a PU in good condition and consider your self to be a good driver, I would think you should have no problem. I would estimate approx 60 to 66 hours of driving time

Just some thoughts from "an 'ole Fogey'.

P.S. I would certainly have a definite place to live before you arrive there.
Perhaps your new ? employer could be of assistance in choosing a neighborhood and an appartment/ condo or ?. Again, just some thoughts (that may not be necessary).

Good Luck to you in all respects.

Thanks. One thing I have going for me is that my employer has already said that they will pay for a hotel/motel till I can find something. But the sooner I find something the better.
