At least people were driving decently this morning after the snow too! I am soooo glad I have my pickup now and had time to get the studded tires and serviced before the weather hit!

Default be careful out there!

Wednesday afternoon was something else! C Street hills looked like a skating rink with cars & vans sideways, spinning, not able to pull the icy hills.

Roads were much better this morning after the road crews were out sanding. But the drivers are still wild. Some small sports car came flying into a turn, did a 180 in the intersection of N. Lights/Lk. Otis this morning right in front of me & there were a few cars stuck in the median.

I love snow and wish it snowed more often here in the DC area. But I will say that I wouldnt' know what to do with ice. My SUV can handle the snow but never drove in ice before. If there's ice I just don't drive that day.

I just drive a little slower. I'm sure that there might be people behind me wishing I would drive faster, but I'm being careful.

Hang in there; we'll get our snow. One year in the early part of the decade we got 2 feet of snow on St. Patrick's Day so ya just never know when it will come!!

I've already been out 3 times on my skate skis, but we certainly need more snow. Hopefully tonight....!!

I was going to ask when you guys would be able to xc ski and whatnot. Good to know that you're already getting out.

Would you guys believe that I've never even been sledding? It's sad growing up in the south. I'm really looking forward to coming up there in March. I have a lot of lost winters to make up for.

The first snow seems to have turned to ice and the second snow on top of that ice has given some of the fast drivers some small reason to slow down. However that doesn't mean the fast drivers aren't out there. Twice today I came up to a red light and found what looked like a huge sheet of ice with small pimples all over it. That stuff is totally unreal. Even with studded tires not spinning tires on the start is difficult. I managed to stop when one light changed but two drivers behind me went on through the red light. Better look both ways before you even think about going when the light changes to green in your direction. I've seen several pickup trucks go though red lights using two and maybe three lanes while none of their tires were rolling. I've seen several wrecks and in each case it looks like the vehicle in front was slowing down and the driver following made it difficult after they hit the car in front and boosted them into the intersection.

I hear with my job that I may be getting some time on a snow machine or sled to get from one village to another. What an adventure!
