Default What is your favorite type of house?

My favorite type of house is definitely the southern CA. suburban stucco. I LOVE those homes. Their usually in subdivisions and are 2-stories with carpeting on the inside and granite counters and light/dark wooden cabinets. Consist of 3 or 4 bedroom with 3 bathroom. 2 car garage. A nice front and back yard. Wooden or white-picket fenced gate. And neighborhood is just as nice and very well landscaped. Definitely buying one in the future.

What is your favorite type of house? Include ideal city and neighborhood attributes.

I like the Victorian / Bungalow / Craftsman style typical in older homes in the Southeast US. You can get an idea about those from this neighborhood in Atlanta. Tour of Homes | Inman Park Festival

Having a front porch / veranda / balcony is preferred here in the South (if one can afford a house that has that of course).

And if you have some real money Ansley Park is the way to go. http://www.thisphotographerslife.com...neel-reid.html

I'm not sure of the name but I think I prefer colonial where they are 3 different levels; 1 for the bedrooms, 1 for the living/dining room and kitchen and then a 3rd lower level for a finished basement or rec room. I seriously hate having bedrooms on the same floor as the living rom and kitchen and want them seperated.

I also like some grass or lawn in the front, a larger lawn or yard in the back. A quiet tree-lined street in the not more than 15-20 mins from the main city.

I love a good old fashioned walk up tenement, with clotheslines all attached to a giant iron ladder in the courtyard.

A split-level. Quads are the absolute coolest houses! I'd take a tri-level, though ...

There's a quad across the street from my mom; I used to babysit in that house, and after I'd wrestled the kids to bed, I'd daydream about how I'd furnish and decorate the house if it were mine. *sigh* Forty years ago, it had a yellow tile kitchen, and bathrooms with yellow toilets, sinks and tubs.

I'd even risk living across the street from my mom to live in that house! LOL

Craftsman. Or failing that, anything old with lots of character and no ghosts.
