Question Does this housing program exist anywhere in AZ??

Hey everyone. Okay. In Utah, there is a program that some of my friends have participated in. I can't remember the name of it right now, but I will describe it to you.

The Utah government, wanted to have a way, to help first time homebuyers/people with not so good credit, or little credit, get into a home. So. You put your name on a waiting list. THEN... once you are approved, you are given a choice between certain developing areas of Utah, where new housing developments are being built.

THEN... for an entire year (or as long as it takes to finish the 20 houses)... you work together, helping 20 other families build their homes. You are overseen by contractors, who are part of the program. You have to spend a certain amount of time each week, building the houses. Your kids, spouse, anyone can contribute to the weekly required hours. If you have two people working, it counts as twice the hours for you. It takes about a year to complete the program. Once you finish, you get a brand new, 5 bedroom house, with a basement, a nice yard, ect... and a dirt cheap mortgage, something like 600 bucks a month. All because you were part of this program.

Does anything exist like this in Arizona? If so, where?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Sounds like Habitat for Humanity, or something similar. All the ones I see on the news are ALWAYS people from a foreign decent (mainly mexican) with 5+ kids. I can guarantee that the list would be miles long out here.
