Maybe It would be better to fly, or take the bus to California, and just rent a car there with California plates.

Yes lots of AZ visitors and nothing I have heard about any discrimination. Many cars with AZ plates up and down 101 freeway. Maybe people don't realize proposition 187 passed in california , but was repealed by the supreme court. Welcome and enjoy!

Hey that's not nice! ;-)
I know what you mean though... it's like when we get a call from England when my hubby's family hear there was a 3.2 earthquake...
However, even if I didn't hear of any problems, I really couldn't give him a definative answer so I thought I'd get some opinions. *shrug*
Oh well, glad you had a chuckle! :-)

Some have posted kindly in this thread... yet you chose to label them all as unfriendly.... and then complain when they label all of 'you' as hillbillies.
Why not stop the generalization? Not only are there nice Californians, but there's also Cali cities standing behind AZ and their 1070 battle.
Yeah... the whole states a dump. When you post things like that, people stop listening to anything you have to say. If you really want a voice and be heard, start posting useful, TRUE statements.

I have been all over California (well, I live here, have for many years) and can attest that the dumpiest parts of the state are where the illegals have taken over, for example, along Highway 99 in the southern part of the state. Filthy prideless towns, everywhere. Elsewhere, it's a beautiful state and clean too and we welcome most anyone (no more illegal aliens please) and if you're from AZ and a supporter of Joe and Jan, then all the better esp for the likes of me and many CA residents.

My guess is there may be some antipathy but I doubt anyone would actually be violent. You may encounter someone prejudging you or showing their own intolerance, but I wouldn't let that restrict your right to travel to an adjacent state.
If you want to, you can get an "anti-SB 1070" bumper sticker or the like, if only to make yourself more comfortable.
If for some reason SB 1070 comes up in conversation, I think you may actually encounter someone who affirms it, both those of conservative and even liberal leanings.
I'm a liberal- though probably conservative on more issues that I'm aware of- and I affirm SB 1070. Many of the people I've grown up with and worked with have probably been illegal immigrants and I sympathize with them, but there has to be an enforceable border as well as enforceable immigration laws. Absent such, there is no border or regulation of who or what enters this country, which I find unacceptable.
OK, speech over. Just realize that no all Californians love illegal immigration or hate Arizonans.
