The first Lady inspired a lot of people to grow vegetables. But I think this
Food Safety Modernization Act should inspire all and every American to grow their organic vegetables, have an organic garden, and a good seed
bank, organic eggs, non genetically modified foods, all meats and fruits.

Mod Cut: Response to deleted post.

So no, it's not fake and there are some legitimate concerns. Snopes recommends reading Food Safety: The Worst of Both Bills (HR 2749 & S 510) to get the facts.

I worked for many years in food processing.
Haccp [hazard analysis critical control points] came about after several people died from undercooked tainted burgers from Jack in the Box. JITB developed the program to identify & reduce potential risks.
Haccp type methodology was adopted by many other fast food chains. The nature of the supply chains used by these nationwide corporations, make it possible for a incident at a processing plant to have widespread ramifications.
After 9/11 food processors increased security.
mostly small things like controlling the access to raw ingredient & finished product storage areas. picture id's for employee's
not every supplier or processor have adopted these measures.
Homeland Security [whether or not you agree] is trying to identify & mitigate what they perceive to be threats.
the link Mod Cut: No links with less than 10 posts, but the same as Roundball's above.
has a comprehensive breakdown of the bill(s), but there is also some opinion mixed in.
as written there is a more consistent set of tracking & record keeping requirements, similar to ISO
there are exceptions for small producers
it is unclear what constitutes small
there is potential for abuse by specific inspectors
the situations cited in smaller meat packing plants, are probably not being portrayed accurately
more likely that many of the smaller plants went out of business, due to the increased sanitation requirements by the larger consumers. These requirements many times involved replacing processing equipment, to reduce the possibility contamination.

I would encourage everyone make your opinions known
send a email to your congressman & senators

Creeping Socialism, two steps forward, one step back, and they are making progress. Humans adapt rapidly but someday we are going to wake up to the government micro-managing our lives and it will be too late to undo all the legislation run by the largest untrained bureaucracy the world has ever known.

Only the genetically modified and patented foods will be legal to eat. All the original seeds, and animals will be destroyed. And this law will be enforced, The government the FDA, and Monsanto is very serious about this. This is happening now all over the World. Most of the foods and grains we eat now, is genetically modified.
