Stories from Southeast Border towns?
Ok...we've heard all the emotionally-charged issues involving the illegal alien problems. I'm not looking for political or personal views here. Rather, I'll be moving to Colchise County (15 miles north of the border) and want to hear about actual true stories of what's really going on with the situation.
I've seen the documentary ("Colchise County: Cries From The Border")...but I want to hear from some who live in that area...Bisbee, Hereford, etc.
Thank you in advance for no flaming and no political views....just real stories. please!

You might find some stories in the local newspapers from that area. Here's a URL for a list of AZ newspapers.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I'm looking for first-hand stories that are actually experienced by people to judge if the problem is as bad as the media portrays it to be. Everyone seem to have strong opinions about it, but how much of that is based on real-life experience?
I don't trust the media. My wife's son came home from Iraq as a wounded soldier. The local papers and TV stories had so many differering would-be "facts"...it was like playing that telephone game when we were little. You know, the one where someone starts out whispering "the sky is blue" and by the time it comes around to the original whisperer its been changed to 'the pickles are rotten!. lol
Anyway, my wife was getting very little info from the army except that 1) he had been wounded in the leg; 2) it was not life-threatening; 3)that he was in a hospital in Germany. So, a TV reporter calls her, and she tells them....not much information, it's a leg injury. So they push her more...she says she doesn't know..."it could be anything....something so simple as a toenail ripped off to his leg being blown off" (it turned out to be a shrapnel injury with metal pieces imbedded throughout his calf...he's fully recovered since). Well, that night on the TV news...it opens up with the following story: "Local Soldier has leg amputated!". It's amazing how, when you're close to a story, you realize how much the media sensationalizes it.
That's why I'm hoping to hear real (firsthand experienced) stories. Thanks.

I can't help you on border towns, but just to let you know we are very glad your son is getting better. I am sure others will chime in soon.

I don't know about Southeast AZ, but the problem in Southwest and South Central AZ is not over exagerated at all. I went hunting down there this winter and the problem is out of hand.

Yeah, trust the media on this one. I used to live 15 minutes north of the border and well, yikes.

OS....where did you live down there...and can you elaborate on what you saw. Is it so bad that I should get myself some firearms for use against trespassers (illegals)? I have never owned a gun...what's the law on using one against trespassers?
Thanks.

You must be a fool to think you can shoot trespassers. You can only use deadly force when your life is threatened.

I meant to shoot myself in the head if it's as bad as it sounds!

It is far better to shoot yourself rather than an intruder down there. I am sure most have heard the story of the border town rancher that actually tried to help some gentlemen from Mexico and they claimed that he assaulted them. The judge gave the gentlemen his ranch. Nope, don't shoot, just hand them the deed. I really don't think living on the border is for the faint of heart today.
