Fountain Hills living
We are interested in retiring to Fountain Hills, AZ. Does anyone have information about that area as far as housing prices/taxes/senoir activites?
We are leaving Lake Charles, Louisiana after the hurricane damage! Thanks.

I don't know a lot about Fountain Hills other than they have a most AMAZING art fair/festival in November and February of each year! It is such a wonderful time and well worth the time and effort to be there! Good luck in your search, blessing on you!

Fountain Hills is a fairly upscale area of Arizona, it's right near central Scottsdale so you're close to businesses, resturaunts, and shopping. It's a primarily younger area, many people are in there 30's and early 40's. There are some spectacular condo's right across from the fountain, I'd check them out .

Relocating to Fountain Hills
We are thinking of moving from the East Coast of Florida to Arizona. In researching some areas, Fountain Hills is supposed to be growing rapidly. We currently own our own airconditioning business but our area is becoming over saturated with people moving from all directions and high taxes as well as 4 hurricanes in 2 years. We want an area where my son can attend a good high school and homes, and taxes are not through the roof. We love the hot weather since our business thrives on that. Is Fountain hills the right spot?

I was out in Fountain Hills back in the 70's McCullough was selling land out there. I really fell in love with this place. The only problem being just to buy land then was expensive, I went back to visit around 3 years ago.
It is a really nice place, but unless you have alot of money, I would look
at a place like surprise which is really growing, also chandler is real nice.

It's funny to hear someone say that it's near central scottsdale and that it's a younger demographic. I remember when fountain hills and north scottsdale were out there. fountain hills had mostly retirees.
i have fond memories of fountain hills. there used to be a great pizza restaurant we'd go to. i remember one august my hubby took me to the fountain on a romantic date where he gave me this beautiful necklace as a present. we were sitting there enjoying the fountain and failed to notice the black clouds that were appearing. it was the first major monsoon that i had experienced. it ended up taking me hours to drive a few miles because the roads were flooded, power lines were knocked down, even block walls were knocked over from the wind forces. it was the strangest storm that I had ever experienced. it came up out of nowhere and soon after the sky was clear again.
surprise is ok but i don't like the areas that border el mirage.

Fountain Hills
Fountain Hills is a fabulous town. I have lived here for 8 years. I moved here because I read an article in Parenting Magazine naming this town top places to raise a child. It's safe and beautiful. We have a 360 degree view of the mountains and valleys. Having Scottsdale 10 minutes away is ideal. Scottsdale is the town of all towns. Great food, plenty to do and so clean it looks fake. Fountain Hills is said to be a town of aprox. 40 year olds but I know many here see it as a retirement community. House prices are kind of high, but it depends on what your use to. There is no bad part of town but there are older parts of town. We are safe and the weather is awesome all except for that little 3 month 'blip' in the summer. OUCH! But the rest of the year the windows and doors stay open with just a simple ceiling fan.
Good luck!
