Default AZ Hair Dresser-Dye/Weave of gray fragile natural hair

i am looking for a salon/hair dresser in Arizona. it does not matter where. the metropolitan area in and around phoenix is closer.

overall, this is my problem...

i never go to the hair salon. so this will be a challenge for conditioning the hair.

i don't do perms...for the most part my hair is natural.

i is not very kinky. i can just wash it, brush it, tie it back and go.
it looks just fine with a leave in conditioner.

for the last few years i have been partially dying my hair because i am an older lady.
for the last year, i have not been taking care of the hair.
it is dry and breaking off.
i stopped because i got tired of doing it and i was considering just cutting it off.
at any cost, i kept dying it with garnier's dark brown shade.
one day i got the notion to just remove the dye.
go natural, then cut it all in some short style
so i bought a dye remover at the local store.
wow. what a bad move. i had no idea what would happen.
my hair turned orange, auborn, red, yellow, etc.
i looked light a lit match.
i immediately redyed it, but the color was still light brown and uneven with dark reds.
i waited a week or 2 and dyed it again.
it is darker now but it is a mess and in worse condition.
it needs to be cut for sure.
but i changed my mind.
i want it professionally dyed a dark color
plus i think that i want a weave put in.

not a full head of weave, just something that matches my hair for length.
i have no idea how that will work with national hair, perhaps pressing will due.
a perm on damaged hair would be a problem.
this will be an experiment.

i have no idea of any style, just i would like it to be shoulder length or longer.
there is a challenge.

where is the best salon for this type of thing?

Default black hair care

I did get my hair done 1 time at a salon on 51st ave/Olive near a Safeway grocery store. I was pleased with my press and curl. I have not gone back only due to being too busy to drive there. But, the stylist did a good job and used Keracare products on my hair. My hair lasted for 2 weeks!

Default Hair Emergency

I recently relocated here to Mesa, AZ from the State of Missouri. Finding a hair salon was simple to do there. I arrive here and I was like what the hell? Are the stylists hidden in a cubby hole or something because I haven't found any. I did meet one lady who told me about her stylist but commented that I just let her relax my hair. Um, how about no. I am desperately seeking someone who specializes in hair care and can style her butt off as well. If I have to leave the salon and go home to do my hair...what is the point. Yes, as you can see I am a straight shooter. Unless the service is free I am going to be quite specific about what my hard earned dollars is paying for.
If you know of any worth mentioning please let me know by contacting me via email at tywhite2004@yahoo.com. Thanks a bunch!

As long as they have a store that sells Black hair (for locs in my case) and skin products then I'm good to go. I haven't been to a salon in years and plan to keep it that way.

As long as I don't have to ship (expensive) Jane Carter Solution and Ambi products from wherever to AZ, then I'll be fine.

Sorry for the double post (the option to edit my previous post seems to have disappeared).

I found a link with a few Black hair salons in the Phoenix area listed on it:

BTW, I'm in my late 20's and looking for a young black proffesional crowd in Arizona. I'm trying to make the most of this transition
I don't know if this will help but I’m African American and when I first moved here I was looking for a Dominican stylist to do my hair. Mainly because I’ve gone to salons here and the ones I’ve been referred to were the kind that either put too much product in my hair, they were behind when it came to relaxing hair or they cut when I asked for a trim. When I lived in both NY and Atlanta I had Dominican stylists at times and they usually did a good job. By good job I mean that they will relax your hair very well and won't put a whole bunch of product in your hair making it feel stiff. You’ll leaving the salon with manageable, touchable and soft hair. Not to say that there aren’t any AA hair stylist that do a great job because I have seen plenty in ATLANTA who were fierce it’s just that I haven’t seen anyone get close to fierce in the PHX area.

Anyhoo! ;-) The woman I go to now is named Melania and spanish is her first language but she knows enough English to do what you need her to do - and well! Here's her info below:

Starting June 10th she will start working at this location:

Salon Boutique
5710 W. Bell Rd.
Suite #20
Glendale, AZ 85308

Her hours are Monday - Saturday 8-5 p.m. and closed on Sundays
Her telephone number is still (623) 986-1295

Hope this helps!
