I didn't get accepted, for some reason. I met all the requirements, but I was denied tuition. I am going to try again, but for now, I am going to pursue other things as well. I am still going to be a Forest Ranger some day, just not today.

What about wildlands firefighter? I have a friend who was one back in the day and that dude has some serious mountaineering and forestry skills now. You get to jump out of planes and do all sorts cool things.

My best friend is a fire fighter, he works for 2 departments, and collects unemployment. He makes minimum wage at 1 department, and $160 a month, and $20 a call at the other department. I will pass on being a fire fighter.

At this point, I will take anything that requires skill, and pays more than $15 an hour. I want to buy a house on at least an acre out west, before they are all gone.

Yeah, the difference is that this is a FEDERAL job which pays better a whole lot better. I'll talk to my friend and find out more details.

My ex was a wildlands firefighter for ten years. You only get to jump out of planes if you're a Smokejumper. He thought about doing that but decided he'd rather stay on the ground. lol He was also a city fireman in Payson and did logging in the winter. Nothing like working all dangerous jobs! He loved it all though and did VERY well with it.

Sounds like he loved the adrenaline. I was going to do the firefighter thing, but after I had found out how much they make, I ain't having that. You make just as much on unemployment.
