Havasu is a speed trap

And while they may not be bar members, they do receive training for this position. One does NOT need to be an attorney to know a city and its laws, and lawyers can be just as corrupt any other profession, and often are.
Secondly, the city magistrate is appointed by the city council whose members are elected by the city residents. The magistrate can be removed at any time by an action from city council, so there already is a process in place for dealing with a bad judge. If your opinions were shared by the majority of residents of LHC, the problem would be fixed at the next election, would it not?

The last city of its size in Arizona not to require a Magistrate to be a member of the bar and 5 years practicing law is Lake Havasu. This Magistrate has been reprimanded for not being impartial. He has ruled in several cases where he should not have. He has never ruled against the police in 8 years. He has stated his purpose is to make his court the "MOST PROFITABLE" in Mohave county.
As for the Behavior ordinance. The supreme court has ruled that language is protected speach and cannot be regulated. It only takes the police to say they "HEARD" you say something then you go to the court outlined above (as in never ruled against).
Also, the behavior ordinance was enforced before it was legal and the city Manager (not the Magistrate) had to put an end to that.
So, tell me again how its not a big deal?

Ok, he's a bad judge. The fact that he's not a lawyer does not make him a bad judge.

I dunno. Everything I've read on the behavior ordinance sounds reasonable to me. Look up the definition of nuisance tort. Your right to party and be obnoxious shouldn't interfere other peoples right to live in peace. And that includes having ones family subjected to loudmouths hurling obscenities in public places.
So, what's the problem with that?

The Memorial Day Boycott of Havasu is being done by tourist family's who are tired of Havasu's police state. The complaints against the police have gone up 500% (yes that is the correct number) since 2005.
The police today started a new police unit specifically to target the tourist in the channel. This Special Havasu Revenue Unit is set up to generate fine money for the city court.
I suggest you read the local news paper.

Yep always red you go from one red light to the next red light.
You could be driving down the road and not another car in sight and the light at the intersection will be red. I counted one day during a 12 mile drive around town I had 67 lights and out of 67 52 were red.
Havasu can be bad also it just has less lights and less people. It still has its fair share of problems.

The problems in Havasu are created by the city administration.
If the city did not create it's own problems the summer tourists would not be speaking about a memorial day boycott

Having lived along the Colorado River for most of the 21st Century; many of the 'regular' people there are sick and tired of the drunken party animals with their immature behavior----------perhaps the LHCPD is simply reflecting the desires of the locals?
Something to ponder.
