Can someone explain this poll to me...

Under the first table

"STATES WHERE MOST PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO LIVE - APART FROM THEIR OWN STATE

"If you could live in any state in the country, except the state you live in now, what state would you choose to live in?"

Base: All U.S. Adults
"

This table shows AZ as being 5th, as the thread title states. Then proceed to table 2, where it says,

"TABLE 2

TOP FIVE STATES - BY AGE AND GENDER

"If you could live in any state in the country, except the state you live in now, what state would you choose to live in?"
Base: All U.S. adults
"

Then it shows Arizona as 4th with Baby Boomers.. While no other generation voted for Arizona as their top 5. Are we saying that the majority in this country is baby boomers? Or is there missing data on this website? Or is it showing contradictory information.

LOL! I have to agree with you here!

You know, for as much as I hate the Phoenix area heat and the general transient nature of the desert areas, I have to admit that I love AZ as a state. I love the fact that I can drive north and be in the trees and be in a totally different climate. After living on the East Coast for most of my life, I realized that there's not much difference between NJ, PA, NY, MD, or VA, etc as far as the environment goes. Highways look the same, mountain ranges are about the same size, etc. When you come to AZ you drive a few hours and you can change zones: Tucson looks very different than Phoenix, Prescott is uniquely different from Flagstaff, and Sedona and the Grand Canyon both offer their own uniqueness to our state. Even a weekend trip to Bisbee or Greer can give you a totally different taste of Arizona that you never knew existed.

I grew in up NJ and I have to admit that I loved it there, as well, but all of my family still remaining there can't wait to leave. Taxes, traffic, healthcare issues, etc are making me glad that I moved west. Just not sure I want to retire in AZ full time. We're definitely looking at other options in the next 15 years or so: I think a cabin in Durango, CO might be calling our name!

So maybe the retiree influx will bring a little bump in our economy and buy us a little time before the inevitable.
The inevitable being what?

Notwithstanding its economic and political problems, more Americans would like to live in California than in any other state. For the seventh time in a row since 2002 California tops the list of states where the most people would like to live if they did not live in their own states. The next most popular states are Hawaii, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, New York and Washington.

Nice to see!

Certainly boomers/retired are moving here but I think it's more across the board that that:
