Default QC - 2 questions

I'm new to QC (Johnson Ranch area) and aside from the obvious disadvantage which seems to be traffic, what are the advantages to being way out here? I'm still struggling with the fact that I seem so far away from the real world!
My next concern is where to send my child to middle school school. Any schools I should stay away from? Any recommendations?

My question then is why did you move there in the first place? I think you knew what you were getting into before packing up, so it should come as little surprise what the area has to offer. Schools I can see are a little different. There is open enrollment if you don't like the choices out there. Growth has strained the system and it's improving, but if you complain about extra-curricular activities and nothing for your child to do, then that is a normal complaint since everyone in Johnson Ranch is new. Try to get to know some people who have been around, because the majority of people have just transplanted with in the past few years. This is a positive if you're looking for a fresh start, but if you're looking to keep what you had from the place you moved from then you better go back. Retail shopping is popping in Town and more businesses are starting out in JR.

Thanks for the reply! And yes, I was slightly prepared when moving but it helps to get the thoughts of established residents who may offer an opinion different from my own. Hearing that the shopping opportunities are increasing is a plus since I'm a girl and I do like to shop.
Keeping my daughter engaged is very important in and out of school. It's nice to know open enrollment is an option.
Thanks again!
