So instead of trying to disagree with me by directly attacking me and others, why don't you try and disagree with me by providing why you think I'm wrong and provide evidence to your findings?

I had no idea this is a 2 year old thread, I don't bother looking at dates
You obviously searched out a zombie thread to post your diatribe. It didn't just pop up out of the blue.

I always felt like it was easy to make friends in Phoenix. Eugene, OR?...now there's a group of unfriendly people. They're not rude or mean just.....dont know....not very open. I've heard similar opinions from others who have moved there from other areas of the country.

But back to the thread topic. Jared Laughner was a wacko and what happened to Gabby Gifford was due more to failed fire arm regulations. People with a history of mental illness should not be allowed to buy fire arms, simple as that.

P.S. Why the heck do people resurect threads from two years ago?

Furthermore, after moving to Boston Massachusetts and living there for only 6 months I have already been able to find like minded friends and am always being offered a helping hand. Therefore, due to personal experience and other like minded people I met during my stay in AZ, in "my" opinion I can't help but feel that the culture of isolationism in Arizona does have something to do with its environment and the expected social norms. Yes Howard Roark it is true the culture of isolation can happen anywhere, but also to remember that there are people not in your shoes.
What part of PHX did you live in?

Happy Valley's way up there and pretty suburban, if not rural. That's like living out by Framingham and calling it Boston. You probably would've been happier in Central PHX or DT Tempe, but if you're doing great in MA that's good too. I would be unhappy living at Happy Valley and the 17 so I understand a little better now.

You move to an area where people go to raise a family out of the city and you expect to be knee deep in people you're meeting?

Well it's not like I restricted myself to that area, I have been all over AZ. Even on the days where my friends were simply being homebodies and I wanted to go out, I wouldn't wait for them I would go out to downtown Tempe, or desert ridge, or downtown phoenix, or even mesa. Look, this post has really been dragging and while I admit that I have started this conversation and was just giving in my two cents, there was most likely a reason why somebody posted this thread, because he/she probably felt or at least heard that people were very isolating from each other or very anti-social in AZ. And I agree with that opinion unless proven wrong with hard evidence.

I am far from a social butterfly but I've made quite a few friends in the 2 1/2 years I've lived here. Met some great people at work and various functions.

Phoenix was what you made of it. It's that simple, really.

No one can convince you of anything. You've demanded "hard evidence" on something that cannot be proven. You also mentioned you enjoy "heated discussion". I read that as stirring the pot and trolling. To each his/her own.

You've moved away. Your nightmare is over.
