There are rentals in Sun City. You might try a rental site or contact a realtor or property management company. I have seen short term rentals available there. http://www.vacationrentals.com/vacat...y-Arizona.html

If you type in Sun City AZ and rentals in your search engine, you should come up with numerous sites.

Yes there are some seniors who bought homes in Sun City and live there year round and they pay property taxes for what they “own”. There are “rentals” that you can find available in Sun City if you look early and make arrangements before the winter months set in.

There are many trails to hike in the country parks and fishing at Lake Pleasant, all nearby Sun City.
Thanks! I was thinking there had to be rentals of some sort but it wasn't mentioned on their website, unless I somehow missed that too. This is all new to me and we're just beginning the research.

Is there any other areas of Arizona that we should consider? I am a registered dental hygienist and one of my patients goes to Apache Junction every winter but he has his own fifth wheel. Is that area just RV's and campers or is there rentals of anything there, do you know? I know nothing about different areas of Arizona. Maybe I should post some of these questions under the "retirement" forum too.

You like water? If so, you should consider one of the Colorado River areas. The winter climate in these areas cannot be beat. Somebody already mentioned Yuma. But from there you head north to Quartzite which is a big RV/retiree haven, Parker, and Lake Havasu City. Lot of rentals there. Then head up to Bullhead and Laughlin. Any of those places would be great, with my nod going to Havasu or maybe Quartzite if you want to do the RV scene. You will not be lonely there, that's for sure.

Absolutely love water! Looking at it, floating on it, fishing in it, canoeing it.
Anything outside we're all for! Someplace if we choose to bring our motorcycles, which I'm sure we will, is a nice place to ride for scenery too.
We haven't done the RV scene because we don't have one, but wouldn't be opposed to renting a parked trailer or RV either just to check it out. But anyplace would have to accept my two wienie dogs or it's a no-go. Looking for real reasonable rentals so as to allow more money for fun stuff!

I'll write all these places down and get out the Arizona map. Thank you all for the suggestions.

Oh, then the River area for sure. You might need a Jeep, ATV, or a dirt-bike too for exploring the endless desert and mountain trails, so start saving for that as well. I don't know if you can find someone to rent you an RV in Quartzite or not. That will take some investigation. But don't worry about the weiner dogs. The RVs in this state pretty much come with weiner dogs as near as I can tell.

LOL! Well our two wiener dogs should be plenty, so no additional ones are needed! If all those jeep atv or dirt bikes are rentable out there, then definitely will be putting back for a little of that entertainment too! Thank you for the suggestions on areas to investigate. One more winter in Illinois is going to kill me.....

Oh yeah, you can definitely rent all sorts of off-road toys out here, especially in Havasu, maybe Parker too. Oh, and I originally hail from New England, so I know what you're going through. You're not going to want to go back. Trust me.

Oh I believe you! I don't think I would want to be out there in the summer though. Plus, we like grass and trees and mountains etc. That's why we want to have the best of both worlds...living most of the year in TN and have a couple of beautiful weather winter months in Arizona.

Default winter rentals in popular arizona locations

To have a chance of obtaining a decent rental in Arizona for the winter months, you have to book it the winter before you need it, the good rentals are booked up even before the spring of the coming winter. I know this by experience. Many Canadians are competing with the northern state USA retirees for the avaiable winter rentals. Everybody loves Arizona in the winter.

You could try this web site: Park Sites.

This listing is for snowbird RV parks, but a lot of parks have what is called a "Park Model" for rent. This is basically a small version of a mobile home.

You can explore the web site, click on a park that looks like it might suit you, and go to their web site. Inquire about their park model availability.

You might have to rent for the entire winter season.
