Default Buckeye...

Recently I read that residents in Buckeye want to turn it into a city larger than Phoenix in this article
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0820talton20.html (broken link)
Does anyone have any more info on this? I would really appreciate it, I can't find anything!

As much as I like Phoenix metro, Buckeye's annexation of nearly tripling its size and hoping to spread out tens of miles further out to the middle of nowhere really disappoints me

Buckeye is a complex creature. At the moment, it's population lingers around 30,000, but they have annexed enough land, that in a few decades, it may be up to 1.5 million.

Yes, this is surprising. BUT. Buckeye is also doing a hell of a job planning all this stuff. They're putting more thought into it than Phoenix ever did, and, I think in the end, it will be one of the best cities in the area.

Buckeye ISN'T the west valley, it's the Buckeye valley. A completely different entity.

Default Buckeye

Buckeye has almost cut off Surprise from annexing further west. They have city lines up towards Wittman and on both sides of Sun Valley Parkway, they have annexed the old caterpillar proving grounds and a developer has created a masterplanned subdivision. Down South they are not very far away from Gila Bend as the last I had heard they annexed out to the prison on hwy 85. To the east they border Goodyear. There is unlimited potential for them to continue annexing west as Tonopah is a wide open area.
So look at a map and locate Gila Bend and wittman/Morristown notice HOW much is in that area.

Buckeye is going to be giant if they can continue to hold back and get the infastructure in place make deals to get the fire stations and fire equipment provided by the developers. Parks put in place and ensure plenty of future water.
