Lake Havasu Rattle-snakes
Do Rattle-snakes in the Lake Havasu hibernate in the winter? The reason I am asking is because I have two dogs and they are used to running free in Oregon, and I am planning on staying at Lake Havasu in the winter, but I don't want my dogs to be killed by a snake.

During the winter months rattlesnakes generally go underground and hibernate. Rattlesnakes have been known to come out of hibernation if temperatures warm up to 78 degrees Fahrenheit. The functioning temperature for a rattlesnake is 72 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit and its effective temperature is 82 degrees Fahrenheit to 96 Degrees Fahrenheit. The effective temperature is the temperature at which the snake moves about and hunts for prey.

We are getting in to the time of year when snakes will start to come out of hibernation. Makes sense to be careful.

Get your dogs "Snake Broke" by a professional (Snake Avoidance Procedure), and then get them innoculated once a year with the 'SNAKE vaccine BOOSTER shot'. "cheap insurance" when you compare the cost(s) of what will result ($$$ & maybe death) if you don't protect them and they get hit with a "wet-bite". Plus you've got the "Mohave Rattler" in the Lake Havasu area..............and their toxin is a Neurotoxin............which is 20 times more potent (and usually deadly) than the toxin from a Western Diamond Back!
