No seriously, he started it with the comment of natives. I took a little offense of that as a native. He has no clue what he's taking about but still is bashing natives.

But, you're right, it could be the heat getting to us, or in my case the humidity.
LOL, I saw Scottsdale was 81 degrees this morning with 51% humidity. Thats uncomfortable no doubt. I still think its alot better than 110, but thats just me.

As for his comment, he was AOK until Valley Native chimed in and bashed him, then he went on the defensive, which in my eyes is perfectly reasonable.

I wouldn't choose either one. I do have a high sensitivity to humidity. ugh! No, seriously, I can take the heat so much better than the humidity, even though the heat can make me miserable. I can't wait until winter!

I started with a question. I had a response in which I was a basically referred to as another uninformed newcomer by a native. I said nothing about natives before this post. There seems to be massive resentment by some natives to newcomers on this board, and I don't appreciate being placed in a group. I am sure when your ancestors migrated to Arizona generations and generations ago ::immense sarcasm:: they had to adjust to the climate here, as well.

The comment about natives and water came only from the fact that Arizonans do not seem to handle water well. I have seen sprinkler systems back east that do not run after it rains. Unfortunately, Phoenix's economy has basically functioned off of golf tourism for the past sixty or seventy years, and has resulted in a need to maintain perfect looking grass through wasteful watering methods. If natives were so knowledgeable about how to treat water, there would be laws in place statewide regulating water usage. Instead, there are little if any laws, but natives on this board complain of the water supply, right before turning on their sprinkler system or tapping into some irrigation system. We live in a desert. It is supposed to be brown. You are not supposed to have a grass lawn, you are not supposed to try to support non-native trees, you are not supposed to water the sidewalk. It's common sense, and if followed, can help to prevent massive problems down the road.

Default Ughh to relo there

Gee, I don't know if I want to relocate there...
Is it desert there or not?
Give me one good reason I should uproot my kid out of his school to take a job there?
I mean, outside the fact I can't find a thing here....
This really sucks. I wouldn't choose the Southwest. I am used to green trees, not scrub and floods.

Having a job for yourself and a future for your children would be two good reasons, actually. But why would anyone want to give you a reason to come here with that attitude? As is evident from many posts, we already have a bumper crop of disenchanted midwesterners who wish (and I wish too) that they would have stayed home. There are thousands arriving every month to take their place in the sun. Somehow AZ will move forward without you.

How about you uproot and move to a larger midwestern city? If you want green trees, AZ wont be for you. If you dont like blistering heat in summer, AZ wont be for you.

Give us one good reason you should uproot your kid and take a job in PHX...

I agree with you that we really shouldn't have the grass that some try to have. I don't think we should have as many golf courses that we do have. I don't think people should move here and try to recreate their past home with grass and green. And I do also used to complain about businesses and homes that run the sprinklers during the rain, but I do understand the whole pre-setting the sprinklers and then not being around while it's raining. The only thing that I took offense was that you were referring to AZ residents as natives that are doing this when most of phx is not native here. That's all. Maybe you're just misusing the term native (which has been used in most of your posts)?

I for one may need to consult with Sablebaby regarding my internet addiction and this web site.

I for one love this site. M
ost people come full circle back to civility towards one another, unlike the web site in my community which has turned into a p....ng match and the moderators allow personal attacks and insults to flow. This really is a gift when you are trapped inside.
