Actually, pipes freeze here in Kingman too. We get temps down into the 20's, and with blowing wind, it can seem much colder. You'll see. It's a short winter though. All in all I think you're going to be very happy.

Welcome aboard! glad to see more moving to Kingman

The loop I mentioned is over on the New Mexico Border and is best done on a long weekend. The other loop that is great with Aspens is over to Williams head North Like heading to the grand canyon the turn right (east) on hwy 180 into Flagstaff then back on I-40 through Ashfork catch Crookton Rd old route 66 into Seligman,Peach Springs, Truxton on through Hackberry and into Kingman.

East of Andy Devine (Rt66), and south of I40. The neighborhoods off of Louise Ave and Southern Ave, are good, and get better as you drive further east.

Just curious, but did you actually line up work that pays better in Kingman than the same work in Phoenix? That would be a coup. The cost of living is a lot less in Kingman, and the pace of life is much slower too (that's a good thing in my book.)

PM me if you need a realtor recommendation.

Thank you very much for the info. as far as work goes, it does not pay better, but like you said "The cost of living is a lot less in Kingman, and the pace of life is much slower too (that's a good thing in my book.)". in phoenix the $$ for houses were unreal, and i had a feeling that the bottom of the real estate market would drop... So... i just rejected the offer, although it was a gov job. i suppose if one does the math, wages wise, it comes up about the same as up here.....

thanks again, and will keep you posted...

The photos you posted are over 5 years old when Mrs. Wilson ecided to sell off alot of her property and the area was rezoned. She was sucessful in selling off most of her land. You obviously have no idea about the county residents. Are you aware of Bull Mountain, Fountain Hills Estates, or Cactus Wren area? The homes well exceed 300k for the most part. People like to have land and horses and great open spaces. There are thousands of people living in the
North Stockton Hill area, and the land values go up and up. People do not bother each other, and they love the country rural life. They like horses. The Neals, as you should know. still own alot of land there. Noone up there has tattos that I associated with, it is just when I have to go shopping. The legal line re the city of Kingman is a few miles away. As far as wind, it is everywhere for your information. My intent was not to sell my home on this site, I just was in a bad mood becasue of the lousy service, or lack there of in the stores and having to look at all the gross people in town.
If there are over a 100 pools that is really somthing, because I do not see any and I have lived here 13 years my friend. Where I grew up everyone did have a pool and private gates , and were ambitious ,sucessful ,professionals, and old money as well.
I am well aware of the park, I play tennis there, we play soccer and jog there among other activities. I am well aware of the schools, and thier level of competency. Yes, I ramble, but so what. I remember when there were two stop lights in this town and the cowboys were polite tipped their hats to you so go on ahead. The country people say hello to each other. I know the government, schools, and doctors and their level of competency in this town.
Yes, you can call me a nut if you want to I don't care, but this town, I have sort of developed some bad habits, because everybody sits and yaks all the time to total strangers and tells them their whole life, unlike New York.
For your information, I have lived in England, Paris, Italy, New York, CA, Florida and other places young man, so I do not appreciate some of your condesending tones. I know it sounded wierd thrashing Kingman, because I do hate it, and I want to sell my place, it is not for me.
Its a love hate thing, but bottom line my children need a better education and I need health care.

Your "town" has about as much in common with the city of Kingman as humans have with the monkeys from which they descended.
You, kdog, are showing typical crude Kingman mentality by your ignorant statement. Touche everyone!!!!
I rest my case.

Interesting.

I just checked out Realtor.com and out of the 575 odd single family houses for sale; about 145 were $300K+.

And please remember that housing prices in the Kingman area (and almost everywhere else) are dropping.

And many other families have money as well-------Scott Dunton's is just one.

I know of a few pools in the downtown area.

Perhaps you would be happier living where you grew up

When did Kingman have but two traffic signals? I have been around that town on and off since 1988 and there were more than 2 back them.

Hi AZ Bear, I was responding to Kdogs post. However at least I am getting people talking. I moved here in 95. He/she claimed there were 100 homes that had pools here in Kingman. He probably means doughboys. Realtor.com has that many houses over 300k?
those may be Rhodes homes and the Ligenfelters Developments?
I agree with KDOG it is better to invest on the Southend of town
if one can afford it and you like the 110 summers and 20 degree
winters, the winds pollen etc. anywho, as far as your comment leave if you do not like it, is not friendly. My house among some say 1000 others, is on the market. Scott Duntuns name sounds familiar, is he a real estate developer??? I think he has a good rep.
I cant quite place the time or place but I believe I do know the name. Good people comes to mind. Maybe the kids went to the Academy.
Again: leave if you dislike the place that much, well my house is on the market. Kingman is an easy place to get into and a hard place to get out of. What is the harm in wanting green grass trees, and the ocean??? I am aware of the market, I was a realtor in BH for a brief stint, but we serviced our listing and worked our tails off to make sales, we didnt sit around wating for the phone to ring, or assume people were looky loos. I had international clients and the homes I listed were in the million and now are priced at most likely 20m.
I do not think having the prison built nearby has helped this community.
You dont have a clue how old I am...but age is just relative.
For people who are close to retirement, or have alot of family or work nearby, it is good for them.
There are however very few jobs and the pay is low and the food is triple here. Kingman pays extra on everything, so all in all it is not a lower cost of living. The taxes on my house are around 455 which is low, compared to what alot of peple have to pay in other States.

I don't think you're nuts, blue. I just dislike the fact that you trash an entire town that you know very little about. You claim you know Kingman, and yet you say this.

Here's a google satellite view of four blocks of Rancho Santa Fe, picked at random. Four blocks is probably 10% of Rancho. Make sure you expand the image so that you can see well.

Count the pools.

There are over 15 pools here alone. Remember, that's 10% of Rancho. So as a conservative estimate, there are probably 100 pools in Rancho alone. And Rancho is a tiny area of Kingman. The city of Kingman is full of communities like this.

And BTW, these aerial photos are over a year old. There are many more pools built in the past year, mine and all my neighbors included.

Next time you're in Home Depot, check out the pool supply section. It's huge. Why would they have a huge isle of pool supplies if there are no pools in town?

Life does not suck for the people in Rancho, or anybody else on this side of town.

Here's a link to the google satellite image for Rancho. kingman, az - Google Maps

Pan around. Zoom out, then zoom into some other neighborhood. Then guess how many pools there are in Kingman. Maybe a thousand?

Welcome to Kingman.

The photos are about 15 miles from my house. However the skys are that blue!!! The air is far more cleaner than in town where the stench of the automobile exhaust fumes is nauseating as soon as you come down the hill to Northern Ave.
the Halapai elementary school is fine I imagine. However, do not expect a New York education from the public schools here. The junoir highs have over 1,000 children in them, the teachers are underpayed and overworked. If someone is planning on living here, and you have children, there is one charter school, and a couple of
private schools. I would avoid the public schools anywhere in AZ.
