Do you know where I can get a Kingman map that shows the streets and more detail? When you folks talk about areas it would be nice to be able to have a map to use as refrence.
I tried AAA and they only had Phoenix and Tucson. ![]() Thanks! |

I personally hate living in Kingman. There are no seasons, just hot and cold. I don't understand how people say the weather is nice, it's uncomfortable year round. Most of the people here are disgusting, no showers no teeth. Housing market sux, they keep building houses and no one is buying, how can they afford to when jobs are sparse. Tons of homeless, they camp out at the parks. I've lived in a lot of places and haven't seen these many bums concentrated in one small area. No where to shop, most of the stores out here have rude employee's because they know you can't go anywhere else. The movie theater is nasty, I've only been once and 2 hours of worrying about getting bitten by rats was enough for me. There is nothing to do here. I've watched more hours of t.v in the past three years then I have the 23 before it. I have a daughter the daycares are lousy. And we are moving before she goes to school, we do not want her being educated by the people here. There seems to be a high amount of teenage pregnancy here, so much so this is the 1st place I've been in that offers maternity prom dresses. I don't know, Kingman is not for me, I wish I could see what others do that like living here.

Not to dispute what you're saying, but Kingman, like anywhere else, has different strata of people. Sure, there are homeless, toothless, smelly people living in bad places. There are also long time Kingman residents who are educated, well groomed, have all their teeth, decent jobs and families and live in a nice home. The newer areas of Kingman have mostly transplants from SoCal. I take my family to the Kingman theatre and it seems perfectly fine to me. Here's a tip for day care; Little Eagles Preschool is outstanding. I love the weather here. And I'm an outdoors person. In fact, I just bought a mountain bike and take rides out into the desert with my neighbors. The hot nights also are wonderful for sitting around the pool. Again, not to dispute what you're saying, but I find the employees in stores and restaurants as good as anywhere. In fact, probably better on the average. I'm sorry you hate your life here, because I'm really digging mine. ![]() Last edited by kdog; 08-30-2007 at 11:44 PM. |

Is there a shortage of rental homes in Kingman? Everywhere else in Arizona I'm finding plenty of rentals, but when I do a rental search on two of the best sites, there is not one rental house that shows up for Kingman or Golden Valley. Strange.
Does anyone know if Sunward Ho Ranches in the N. Stockton Hill area is a good part of town? I assume it's a mobile home area, because the listing I'm looking at is a mobile home, which is all I can afford in Arizona. Was wondering if it's a safe and clean area? |

It is wierd: I have noticed both sides of Kingman as well; so in a way, both badphish1 and kdog are correct.
Maybe because in a way; I have elements of each preception of Kingman reflected in my own personality ![]() Part Hooptie and part urbane Sophisticate. ![]() As for the 'toothless' cohort; they are definitely out there but seem to be declining as a total percentage of the Kingman population. It is ironic: the Lake Havasu City crowd slams Kingman for being ratty and poor whereas the latter group put down the River city for being fake and plastic. Two sides of the same coin in an arcane manner. This I will say: ca. 1989 I really enjoyed LHC due to is 'upscale' yet laid back lifestyle and looked upon Kingman with askance--------today (2007) if I had to pick between the two cities, it would definitely be Kingman. LHC has deteriorated greatly whereas Kingman has definitely improved. With the caveat that I could make LHC/Bullhead City wages in Kingman and live downtown N of Beale St in a vintage home ![]() Edited for unclear content Last edited by ArizonaBear; 08-31-2007 at 09:28 AM. |

Yesterday's Kingman Daily Miner has a whole page of rentals. I count 22 mobile home rentals and 44 unfurnished house rentals. Plus there are ads from several realtors for rentals. There are neighborhoods here which were overbuilt with brand new homes for which they can't find buyers, so they're renting them out cheaply. If you can't get a copy of the Miner, private message me your address and I'll send you the rental page.
