If you contact the real estate companies (remax etc.) they have lists of rentals and most will fax them to you. Kingman is not a real "computer" town. You won't find much in the way of rentals on the internet. There are probably at least a hundred rentals at any one time, many of them new homes. The majority are probably in the 800-850 range, that is what the "market will bear". You can find them for less and some for more. Contacting the larger real estate companies is your best bet for finding a house. Several do 6 month leases, a few require one year.

Default Kingman is a great retirement place

I am a former healthcare exec who moved to Kingman two years ago.
Previously , I lived 30 years in California. A good friend moved here 8 years ago, and I had visited here many times. There are many new home developments here that offer a a good bargain. I ended up with a 2500 sq ft 3 bedroom two bath with a three car air conditioned garage. My utility bill is $300 a month in the summer, but my whole garage and house are at 71 degrees 24/7!
The air is clean and the sky is breathtakingly beautiful. Kingman has a lot of new stores going in, but right now Walmart is the main place. Ross and Big LOTS just opened up and Home Depot. Laughlin Nevada with lots of restaraunts and casinos is only 29 miles away. The grand Canyon, Vegas and Henderson are 2 hours from here.
As a photographer I like the fact that Kingman is only an hour or less from Indian reservations, forests, mountains and lots of old scenic western towns.
It is a growing small town with no traffic jams.
I could go on and on, but I will just say it was a good move for me.

I'm currently in Chicago and looking to move to Kingman next year. Summers are 80's, 90's and even 100's at times and 80-100000% humidity...you don't know misery until you've been here for a while. And the winters suck...er...um...I mean blow. This is THE "Windy City" and whatever wind Kingman has does not compare to Chicago, particullarly when the temperature is 10 or less. Oven vs sauna? I'll take the OVEN PLEASE!!!
I hope to say good bye and good riddance to my birth place and life long home, Chicago. Just one more winter is the plan!

Having spent a lot of time in the northeast, I'm with you. However, I doubt Chicago is windier than Kingman. It blows here a lot -- generally in the afternoons. Mornings and evenings are usually quite still. Last winter was a record breaking cold winter here (our first of course ) and we saw temps down into the 20s, and I believe even teens at night. Add in high winds to that, and you are talking cold. But it's a short cold season. Another thing you'll enjoy are the beautiful nights here. You can sit out in the cooling summer air enjoying the sunsets, and there are no bugs flying in your face. Now that's a breath of fresh air.

Good luck with your move!

Heck:

It was down in the low 20's at night this past February here in the Phx area which is about 1,000' above sea level vs. Kingman at 3,300'.

When I lived/worked in Kingman in 1989; one day the high in December was 36F-----and snowing!

Arizona is deverse area, when I lived in Goodyear elevation was like 800 foot and up the road in Litchfield Park I saw the roads covered with snow of all things.
Kingman at least is high desert sitting at 3600 ft elevation and we occasionally see snow and blustry conditions during the winter. The monsoon storms bring a occasional dust storm and a pretty good lightning show. Brilliant sunrises and sunsets.
This summer I am hoping will be over soon been 90+ for months not normally this warm and dry.

I dunno 'bout that. According to City Data the average wind speed is lower in Kingman. The other day here in Chicago it was 35 mph winds which is barely notable. Maybe the difference between your wind and my wind is that yours is a "dry" wind.
To be honest though, about the cold, I appreciate it at times because it tends to kill or drive away the insects. If it stays warm all the time, those S.O.Bee's thrive in their hive!

Didn't care for Kingman at all. Just a "passing through" town as far as I'm concerned. If you like big trains there is one in the park...can't think of anything else there to see or do. Sorry, just not my kind of place. But, it's all relative isn't it?
