The real estate is slowing us down but someday we hope to move! Any one have any idea of what is a quiet area in Prescott?

We owned a lot in Forest Trails which I would recommend as a quiet place to live. Due to changes in our situation, we chose to sell the lot and not build. We hope to find housing in the next year when we retire.

Good luck with moving...I live in CA and bought a place in Chino Valley, AZ, about 12 miles north of Prescott on Hwy 89, where I plan to retire. If you want acreage near Prescott, Chino Valley is the most reasonably priced alternative. The Williamson Valley area is also nearby, but its quite a bit pricier and there are NO conveniences nearby (grocery, gas, etc). I think Chino Valley is great...super convenient, quiet, and close to Prescott.

We will be in the Prescott area this summer, until then we are doing our research. For years we have heard that it is the perfect place to retire, yet unlike southern AZ we do not seem to find 55+ Active Adult Retirement Communites there. Besides great weather, what social interaction is available for retirees. We were hoping for organized activities, trips, etc.

We bought a lot in Inscription Ranch, Williamson Valley in September 2005. Have visited Prescott twice since and will be going back in August. Plan on building in four years when we retire. Williamson Valley is quite but yet only 15-20 minutes from Prescott, shopping, etc., or 15 minutes from Chino Valley. Many developments going up in the area, but a bit pricey. Live in Maryland, onward to Prescott in a few years!

Curious, Check out trilogylife.com and go to the central Arizona section. We've bought there. 55+ Active Adult Retirement Community.

Have you checked out www.ActiveAdultLiving.com? It's a national online directory that lists about 1,300 active lifestyle communities and it has many listed in and around the Prescott area...

We have checked out the Trilogy site and floor plans, but so far everything seems to be in the Phoenix area as opposed to the Prescott area we are currently more interested in. Eight months of the year with temp's reaching 80+ seems more than we would want. However we are not crossing anything off our list yet. We were originally hoping for a 55+ master planned community for the social aspect. We are torn...fearful of the excessive heat in southern AZ...and fearful of the lack of 55+ AAC's in the Prescott area. We need to experience the area better, to hopefully make an intelligent choice.

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...y=US&geodiff=1 I don't recall seeing much there when i drove thru. For the person researching prescott, it's wonderful. You'll love it, and the temps are probably the most moderate in the region for both heat and cold. I'm very interested in moving there after visiting for a week. Good luck! |

Where are you from in Maryland? We moved from Maryland to the Prescott area in January. We love every day here. We lived in Germantown, MD and now we live in the Prescott Country Club, which is a very friendly neighborhood. People wave at you as you drive by.
