Default Medical marijuana screeches to a halt in Arizona

Arizona medical-pot dispensaries put on hold

Even though I do not personally support the use of pot, this lawsuit really irritates me. Once again, the will of the voters is being put on the back burner all because of the supposed fear that state employees regulating the program would face potential prosecution.

It's amazing how our elected officials here in Arizona have called for states' rights numerous times (and they are correct in doing so), but when it comes to marijuana, they become sheepish because of the so called federal drug laws. Well, I say screw the federal laws. The feds can't get their act together in enforcing their own immigration laws ... and with substances like marijuana easily available (legally or not), it's pretty obvious that the feds are not capable of enforcing their ridiculous drug laws either.

The voters of this state have already spoken, and the final decision should rest with them. These shyster lawyers and crooked politicians need to stay the hell out of our business, and allow the dispensaries to begin operation.

We are spending more money we don't have unnecessarily. NO state who has laws like this one has had state employees prosecuted for doing their jobs. AZ would be no different. Tom Horne hasn't seen the inside of a courtroom for a long time, so he wants to make a splash, and the governor likes to sit in court and watch her lawyers run up costs and bills.

Bah, this is nothing but a smokescreen. The state government does not want pot to be legal, for any reason, so they've come up with this b.s. excuse.

In California only the dispensaries have been raided by the Feds (the Feds won't take down their buddies at the state level).

Alcohol has costed more damage, broken lives and families and addicts than mary jane could ever. I could never figure out why such a big deal is made out of this.

I agree. I am 100% in favor of making marijuana legal nationwide for everyone, not just for medicinal use, but also for recreational use. It's very much like alcohol. You keep people from doing it in public places and on job-sites, and there will be no problems. Just like there are may people who choose not to drink, there will be many people that chose not to smoke.

The benefits are numerous. The state and fed can tax the crap out of it like they do for cigarettes and gain some much needed tax revenue. Gang activity will decrease sharply. Tensions with Mexico will be reduced. All the tax dollars we are wasting on the drug war and border patrol can go to better things. We may still have some problems with cocaine and other narcotics, but it will be significantly less of a problem than it is with marijuana in the mix.

How will I keep from laughing out loud when these "Conservatives" lecture us about "The will of the people"? Is this three times now that the people have passed medical marijuana? Brewer is so concerned about conflict with Federal law. Will someone buy her a drink?

She is concerned with this, with other states with similar laws..this was voted in and after mega dollars spent she does this, as our state is broke?...then there is 1070 with Pierce and dear Sheriff Joe, which she is defending spending AZ's money that could be better spent elsewhere....our courtroom diva with her buddy Horne on the marijuana issue, Pierce and her off-shoot prison backers (we know where that went) ...may they all go congregate in the hot desert and find their way out...sorry, this is despicable as her other issues are, and makes this state a laughing issue... her and her fake smile makes me ill.....

I too think this is a joke. In the past decade of Medical Marijuana laws in the U.S., not one state employee has been arrested.

If anything, it is her buddies in the private prison lobby. The MM law is detrimental to their bottom line.

I have a neighbor with advanced MS who was so happy this passed again. If people want to use cannabis, they'll find a way. Doesn't California generate some taxes on medical pot? I wonder what Rick Romley's views are on this? I realize that he ran for County Attorney and not AG.

What really needs to happen is the Federal Government needs to be sued to overturn the federal marijuana laws. I don't know why the states don't just do that. Like you, I don't support the use of pot, and I think medical pot is mostly a joke. But the states shoud be allowed to legalize & regulate it if they want to...but they've gone about this process completely the wrong way.
