We were just talking about thus with some friends tonight, both about the Skywalk and doing it together with Vegas.

First on the Skywalk, it seems to cost around $73/adult which is crazy in our opinion. It's actually $30 for the Skywalk but apparently you also need to pay an additional $43 for access to the Grand Canyon West. It seems cool but not for the price I don't think.

As for bundling it with Vegas, our friends did it once and they said never again as it turned into a really long tiring day. It's 3.5 hours to the Grand Canyon then you spend 2-3 hours there and drive another 5 hours to Vegas. Would be better to just do each on their own weekend.

What do you mean you can't take pictures? What other reason would a person want to go on to the Skywalk?

From Grand Canyon Skywalk - FAQS

Can I bring my camera on the Skywalk?
In an effort to preserve the glass, personal items are not permitted on the Skywalk. This includes cameras, cell phones, strollers, etc. Lockers are available at the Skywalk to store these items at no charge to you.

But not to worry. The Indian tribe that runs the Skywalk has their own photographers who would love to take some pictures for you, for a nominal fee of course!

I doubt bringing cameras has anything to do with preserving the glass.
It's a matter of the tribe being able to sell you pictures that otherwise you could take yourself.
I saw this happen years ago when I was taking pix at a museum in TX. I was informed no photography as the flash would degrade the exhibits.
So I turned off my flash and continued taking pix ( I had high speed film in the camera and the exhibits were brightly lighted) only to be told that I could not do that.
I ask why and was told it would degrade the exhibits. I ask how and was promptly told that pictures were available at the souvenir counter. Ah Ha~now the truth comes out.
I continued taking pix and was asked to leave.
By the way, I demanded a refund of my entrance fee and got it too.
Just a bunch of BS from another tourist trap.
