Yeah, it's DEFINITELY a buyer's market . We have been trying to sell a rental property that we have for about a year now. Moderator cut: ...
There are lots of new homes going up, but they are CRAZY! People just aren't buying right now .

Needles calif is easier to get to than Bullhead city though prices tend to be a bit higher. There is a safeway grocery store, mcdonalds and such out that way the hospital is pretty darn close by as well.
The new bypass is in the planing stages and it will make life easier getting around, will connect from the parkway over to the current interchange @ I-40 to Lake Havasu.
Because the south end of Ft Mohave is close to the river, the bogs and such there is potential for Mosquitos and bugs. The section over to Golden shores is twisty and 2 lane rd and then over to I-40. It floods at times and the road closes.
If I am in a hurry I go through Needles and catch I-40 and on into town. The stay on Az side is more scenic though.
You can access Oatman and the Burros through Golden Shores or up the other way.
I have not heard of crime being a problem there much at all.
As stated above...all of the BIG shopping is here in Bullhead. The new Target that is opening in March, is VERY close to Ft Mohave. It is closer to Ft Mohave than it is to MOST of Bullhead .

The weather is VERY HOT here in the summer, but we have awesome winters (assuming you don't like cold and snow and ice and all that comes with the colder climates ). This summer is very unusual, at least so far. This month (August) hasn't been NEAR as bad as normal! Usually, August is the worst month, however, July was much hotter...IMO! However, that is always bound to change.
If you like VERY DRY HEAT and can stand the temps in the 120's...this will be good for you! If you are retired and/or no school age children, again, this place is for you! I would HIGHLY recommend, however, that if you have school kids, you reconsider! I have lived her for 20 years now, and I wish we would have gotten out of here sooner and gotten our kids a better education! Our assistant pastor is a high school teacher (AND I have a son in high school). They have both told us that about 25% of the teachers are BRAND NEW!
Make sure you go to GreatSchools.net in order to get GOOD information about the schools here!
If you have anymore questions, please feel free to pm me! Like I said, I have been here for 20 years. I have 4 kids in different grade levels and I know this area like the back of my hand!

Thanks
Oh yeah, forgot the crime issue.

Ft Mohave is really NO different than Bullhead is. The crime may SEEM smaller, if you look at the stats, however, per capita, it's pretty close to the same.

Keep this in mind: You will NOT hear about most of the crime that goes on around here! This is very much a tourist area, and they try to keep things as hush hush as possible! With that being said, the crime here really isn't that bad. Most of the "violent" crimes you hear about, will usually be drug related. Methamphetamine is RAMPANT here! However, all you have to do is be SMART and stay away from those types of people.
Again, if you have any other questions, send me a pm. I am not always on here, as I am usually in the religion forum lol. But I will try to check back here as often as I can . Good luck to you and I hope you find what you're looking for!

It is a true bummer about the Meth problem in Mohave County-------the place is pretty in a stark desert sort of way.

When you say there is a meth problem can you be more specific? Are there tons of break ins from it?assults from it? Unbathed adults wearing just astronaut diapers roaming the streets? LOL What do you mean? I'm from a place that this is not an issue so I have no clue what you are talking about. Most people where I am from have probably never heard of Meth.

Thanks!

Odd: I attempted to post a reply but it disappeared.

If you neither sell nor use Meth; you are reasonably safe-------but, Mohave County factoring in its low population density does have a significant problem with theft and break-ins.

Yep I believe I responded as well but i may have deleted it or some such thing.
Some people are way to sensitive, there is drug problems in every corner of the country. Mohave county is not any worse or better than anywhere else.

My area I work in runs from Ashfork to Wikieup Bullhead and Lake Havasu, I eat at the Marina in Topock stop at the truck stops and never have seen or had druggy problems.

So don't try to run people off advising we have major drug problems in Mohave County. We have drugs yes but its not like everyone is smoking a joint on the corner or snorting a line at the booth while eating lunch. Or shooting up in the parking lot.

We have more problems with City hall in Kingman than drugs its called a good ol boy network.

So how do people stop their houses from being broke into? I don't care about my things but I woudln't want my dogs to be in the middle of it.

We were renting a house on vacation in Cape Coral Florida, in a gated, yacht club area. We left at 4pm to run to Borders. We got back and some druggie had broke in and my dogs were in their crates. So they were there

The druggie stole my computer, camera, the home owners bose system and a RX of Aciphex ( which are for indigestion & GERD LOL) anyway, they found the nut drugged up and passed out with all our things in his room just a few doors down. He was renting a room.

The Cops never figured out how he got in because nothing was broke, locks were still locked, etc. We entered and exited through the garage door so who knows. But when the cops took our report I told them I knew the person was high and they asked why....well, let's see they walked into the bathroom and took the pills and left my 2 ct. engagement ring and 1 ct wedding ring laying on the counter. ( I had left it there) They took the owners little portable bose system (it was old and just a portable unit)from the bedroom and left 3 Ipods that were brand new on the dresser and about $2,000 cash in the drawer right below the Bose system. The Ipods were $300 each. Then they took the little digital and left the brand new video recorder that was $800 that was not more than 5 " from the camera AND they took the computer, left the charger and my husbands wallet was there with about $600 cash in it. A sober/straight person would have never passed up those things.

Anyway, that was a nice area and here Mr Druggie was living there in the neighborhood! They are everywhere

Truth?

Drug heads fear critters like German Shepherds, etc.

Anymore; it is a crap shoot whether an area is 'OK' or not. One big thing that seems to help is avoid areas that are highly transient------people moving in and out frequently.

Thanks for your advice. I'm planning a trip out there in Sept/Oct and will see what I think. I really, really want to like the area so I am keeping an open mind.

I'll chat soon as soon as I come up with more questions

Sounds good and in Sept/Oct it might still be toasty but not so bad.
