Default Best mountain biking in AZ?

Can anyone give me info about your favorite mountain bike trails in AZ? I am taking a road trip and am interested in biking. Ideal trails would be 10 - 20 miles and easy or difficult are both of interest. Thanks!

Good question, Sally,

This time of year you need to head towards the higher elevations to avoid the "ugh" heat. Today in Tucson the temperature was about 102 degrees and I think Phoenix made it to about 115 degrees. Definitely not what I consider pleasant biking weather.

Wait until after Labor Day and the weather will improve considerably.

Good Luck!

Here's a list that might help you. Check out "Fantasy Island" in Tucson. It's probably the best known trail around here.

But like Bummer said, the time of year that you ride in Arizona would determine a lot. Northern Arizona is better now and the deserts are better the rest of the year.

Can you be more precise are you coming to Phoenix flag or Tucson? Trail 100 is unique with being in the middle of town, there is a overwhelming amount of trails in there as well. Some are really rough but some not so bad.
Pretty much every Maricopa county park has mtn bike trails.

Flagstaff water tank trail, mt eden those are all nice this time of the year. Just coming down off the top there is waterbars in the trail that can create problems if you are not aware they are coming up.

There are trails all around Saguaro Lake that are quite good, just watch out for ATVs, etc.

Thanks for the responses so far. I should have given more detail...the time of my trip is early November, and I just want to do an unstructured road trip / camping trip for two weeks and am hoping to hear some suggestions for great trails at that time of year. I am open to any location with good riding. Thanks.
