Yes you have to show your insurance card but we have lots of people out on the road driving with bad plates and no license. Sometimes they steal your stickers off your plate and stick it on theirs. My father had his sticker stolen once and my husband had it stolen off his truck once on a job site.

Heck, Sheena . . . that's not even necessary.
I have a distant neighbor who has been driving on a daily basis with constantly renewed temporary (3 day) paper plates on one vehicle for well over a year and a DEC '06 sticker on another.
If you or I tried that crap we probably would NOT even make it to the corner but this clown seems to blatantly ignore and snub his nose at our vehicle registration requirements with little or no concern.

I will make sure I check around. I can't believe the difference in prices. That is just crazy. AJ and Sable, I think you are right, they raise them as time goes on. Here I have Nationwide and I do like them. I left Farmers Group for raising the rates. AND we had a flood in our house so I only claimed $1,400 and we did as much as we could ourselves. The $1,400 was for the fans, etc. water removal company. Well, Farmers sent some one to check out furnace, hot water tank etc. They said it was all OK....the next year out hot water tank and furnace both went out. (6 yrs old) and the furnace people said it was all rusted out and asked if we had had a flood. I called my Ins Lady and she didn't want any part of it. PLUS she raised my rates for the $1,400 claim and that included my car insurance! I pulled every bit of insurnace I had with them.
Sheena~ They steal the tags?? UGH can't you cut the sticker so if they pull it off it will come off in pieces? Are there alot of dishonest people there? Now I live in a Mayberry RFD town and things liek that are not heard of.
What happens when your tags are stolen? Does the state give you new ones or do you have to buy them?

It's not so many dishonest people it's more like the PC term is undocumented migrants as the hometown paper describes them.
My dad just went to the DMV and got another tag, so did my husband. They were both on file.

No doubt!
One point to remember . . . invalid or expired plates / stickers usually equates to no insurance and/or problem with a legal title!

Undocumented migrants LOL Oh yeah that is a Politically correct way to say it. My question is WHY do we have to be worried about being PC about a criminal? LOL You know? UGH I hate politics! :X
At least it is good to know the DMV replaces them but it's the wasted time and the headache.

My favorite quote, SummersEve . . .
Referring to an Illegal Alien as an "Undocumented Immigrant" is like referring to a Drug Dealer as an "Unlicensed Pharmacist"!

Here's the link for MVD's "Vehicle Registration Compliance - Violator Report"
Motor Vehicle Division
It's meant for reporting out of state violators who don't get AZ plates but there is a comment section at the bottom. Good luck getting them to follow up though.
SummersEve, I'm impressed! Taking a razor blade and cutting an " X" on the expiration tab is a good way to deter theft. They can be removed in one piece when the temps are warm. They are very easy to remove when people just keep putting them on top the previous years. Two is okay, but after that, soften them up with a hairdryer and peel the old ones off. If you ever have one stolen, report it to the police...they all have serial numbers and can be entered just like a stolen license plate.
The "official" term for illegals is 'Undocumented Aliens'. We referred to them as UDA (UA was already taken).

Sorry, aj . . . been there, done that!
Submitting a bunch of forms plus numerous phone calls to the MVD Fraud Division accomplished absolutely nothing.
Unfortunately, after more than a year the violators are still driving daily and snubbing their noses at the authorities.
