Default Quartzsite questions

I really want to "do" Quartzsite this Jan/Feb. I've checked out the website, but there's sooo much info, it's daunting to dig through. I need advice from folks that have been before. I'll only be able to stay a few days at a time, maybe do a couple trips as I'm only 2 hrs away. I'll be car camping in a small SUV to keep costs down. I'm 55, female, capable. Any suggestions on free places to park at night? A truck stop where I could get a shower? I'll be looking to learn about rv boondocking, how to set up rv for solar/composting, etc. Also might be in market to buy an rv if the right older unit comes along. When do folks start packing it up and leaving the "show"? What to expect with weather, specifically wind. Is the selection and quality good for food vendors?
Thanks in advance!

There are several BLM campgrounds near Quartzsite such as Hi Jolly a couple of miles north of town. No hook-ups or anything else - just dry camping. Free Quartzsite BLM RV Camping

There's a Pilot truck stop on the main drag in Quartzsite (next to McDonalds). There is also a truck stop about 22 miles west on I-10 at Ehrenberg (near CA border) which also has a motel.

Drive carefully around Quartzsite - the cops like to hand out tickets to raise revenue .
