Unhappy Is there a 'happening place' to live in Mesa?

I lived in Tempe, a walk down from Mill Avenue, for 10yrs. It felt like home. There was never a dull moment.

But, had to move to Apache Junction. Been here a year and a half.

The anti-culture shock has begun to turn me into a motionless, speechless, hopeless bore! It's as if I've blended right into the moutains!

I need to move! I need to wake up! And, soon!

Due to high costs in Tempe (Renting a 350sq ft studio is $600!), and, of course, Scottsdale being higher, I've only Mesa to consider.

My family is in AJ and Gilbert, and would like to stay close to them.

So, does anyone out there know of areas, rental properties, or condo properties which are 'HAPPENING PLACES TO LIVE IN MESA'? Pls share if you do!

Family in AJ and Gilbert, and don't way to stray to far from them.

Thanku to anyone who might point in the direction of life happening 24/7!

What kind of happenings are you looking for? I can't think of an area in Mesa or Gilbert that reminds me of Mill Ave. Unless I'm forgetting something. If I were single and looking for excitement I don't think I'd pick that area. It's nice for suburban families though.

Now that I think about it, if you lived anywhere near Apache Trail in AJ, I'm sure you never had a dull moment. More happening over there.

There are still plenty of cheap rentals in Tempe, just not right on Mill Ave. You need to do some more looking around. There is no "happening place" in Mesa-- downtown Mesa is anything but that. The most happening spot I can think of is the Buffalo Wild Wings bar and grill, which is in a strip mall across from the Fiesta Mall. On game nights, that place is PACKED.

Nothing in Mesa for those looking to hang out in cool bars etc. I like it because I'm past that stage in life and would rather go to the movies - going to Nello's on Alma School is about as radical as it gets for me. If you need somewhere to walk to best thing is to get a studio as close to Mill as possible..
