Well, I wanted to start a whole new thread about Kingman/Mohave Co. but just decided to piggyback here.

I am also in Oregon and hoping to move to Kingman soon. It's a faint hope, but I'm gonna do my best.

Interestingly, there's also a fairly recent thread about someone planning a move from New York to Kingman. New York (state, not NYC) is where I was before I wound up in Oregon.

I'm excited about this prospect. Might be a longshot but it would be a great job in my chosen field.

I used to live in The Great State of Arizona and I consider it a Paradise. In some ways I wish I'd never left, but if I hadn't I wouldn't have met my wonderful wife. Guess things happen for a reason.

I still have friends and family in AZ. I lived in Cottonwood for the few years I was there, but traveled around a good deal. Spent some time in Mohave County and I just really loved Kingman. Great people, great atmosphere and vibe, killer scenery. Gets a little hot for me, but I can take it!

The job I'm putting in for is with Mohave County, but based in Kingman. I'd love to move my family there, and they are excited about the possibility.

Wish me luck please! I got my fingers and toes crossed.

As far as activities, I'm not looking for a mate, rarely eat at restaurants (I can prepare healthier and cheaper meals at home) and my only "cultural" needs are to see a movie once in a while. I'm into gardening, dogs (and all animals), computers and riding my bike so my needs for outside entertainment are small. I love the outdoors and would prefer to be there at some point every day.

I took quite a hit financially moving to Bend from New Jersey job-wise so I'm not anticipating a high paying job; just want to cover my bills and maybe once in a while take a vacation which I have not done in the 10 years I have lived in OR.

Knowing all this, would you think Kingman is the place for me? I'm really hoping to make this the last move in my life.

I read your thread. I was wondering if you found your forever home in Kingman, & a job?

Best of luck to you...

We've had a used motorhome for years going boonie camping & fishing at many of our favorite fishin holes. We have spent two winters around Fort Mojave/Bullhead City playing /fishing along the Colorado River, & playing by www.avicasino.com Much Fun.

I just want to say that we do really like Oregon, though we'd like to move a little further south in the state. Oregon is an amazing place, but I do love the Great SouthWest also.

For over 5 lustrum we've happily lived here out in the boonies, on side of a beautiful forested mountain, with a basspond & artesian springs (creek in valley). Were in southwest OR between the Rogue & Umpqua Rivers. I love it here.

We've just explored Arizona a couple times staying the winter, & we have family thar. The only thing i can think of i don't care for in AZ, is the cold winter wind. Here the mountains protect us from the wind.

Bullhead City was up to 120 degrees in May, Too Hot fer us. It was time to head north to our forests.

Good luck on the job! My husband worked for Mohave County for 5 1/2 years in Mohave Valley (had to leave because he lost his CDL for a year) and has an interview with his old boss next Friday to hopefully return to work there. If you get hired it's a job you can have the rest of your life.

What is the job you have applied for?

Had my plane ticket in hand to leave OR for Kingman and then a major project was due at work and I had to cancel. Hawk J, where in Oregon do you live? What field are you in? At this point I'm planning on driving down to AZ over the summer, just looking for a friend to make the trip with me.

I'll also keep my toes, fingers and eyes crossed that you are successful in securing your job.

Woops....my bad. I should have directed my comments to Griffis. Blame it on the pain meds I'm taking for a recent back injury. :{
