Thanks again for all the information. I've got a lot to think about now.
What did you say is wrong with the layout? By the way, ever see any risk of flooding from the river? ---------------------------- Quote:

1.) Hwy 95 is the main street through town, when it is snowbird season it gets really ugly with traffic.
2.) It used to be you could take the bypass around town, not any longer with all of the development up there. Speed limits have been restircted the police run alot of speed patrols in the area. 3.) Lowes is under construction currently, There is several big box stores just opening up or under construction. 4.) Traffic is restricted across the boulder dam so all truck traffic comes through the north end of town causing congestion at the only bridge across the river. Though there has been talk of building a second bridge. 5.) speed limit is 45 or so through town but traffic flowing that quick does not happen very often. Lots of congestion. Mosquitos can be cured with products containing 100% deet. Mohave Green snakes have a attitude so don't mess with them. The more common western diamond backs are not as bad. |

Great additional information rambush, thanks! Are you living in BHC currently rambrush?
The snakes don't bother me but I've heard about the water bugs and they make my skin crawl. Are they indeed "everywhere" as the other poster, "nova", mentioned? He also mentioned that there are very few mosquitos and flies, do you find that to be true as well? It'd be nice to sit outdoors at night and not be harrassed by mosquitos as is the case here in Chicago...and flies during the day. Any and all other information that you can think of mentioning would also be appreciated. Thanks again. --------------------- Quote:

I don't live there but live in Kingman, I am in BHC on a daily basis working.
The one item I have seen is pigeons they nest on roofs and create problems. As for flooding the river really does not do much if any flooding, its this time of year during the monsoon season. The washes fill up fast and flow downhill to the river. I have seen washes that were flowing and the sun was shining. The water was coming from a storm several miles away, so you have to be aware of dry washes this time of year. Most of the housing sits well above the river so should not be much problem. I am not in BHC at night but do alot of camping on the river upstream of Davis dam, mosquitos are not a constant problem, they hatch out and go away. Flys are flys don't see many giant horse flies that bite like the dickens. |

There is alot of pigeons more so in laughlin, then BHC.
I seen my first trantula sence i've been here, the other night. It was way out in the desert, so no worries. The bug thing isn't that bad, it's just there here like every where else in the world. Traffic does suck during the daylight hours.Traffic will move 35-40mph.It is posted 45mph and 55 in some spots in mohave county. You'll see alot of the BHC dart effect out here. This is where they dart out into traffic to get into the turn lane and drive down it to dart out again cutting people off to get in the lane. Most of the time there is no probs it just looks scary at times, but then again there is alot of accidents because they hit someone or it look's like they are going to hit you so you swerve to advoid and hit someone else. |

Ok here is a suggestion
for anybody wanting to move to bullhead city. DON'T. as you know it getts hott!!!!! and who in the world wound want to go to a place where it will stay at 117 degrees for weeks. Or it will gett into the 120s alot. talk about heat stroke. To my dismay i have lived in bullheadcity for 13 years. It is my home town, and it bites. I still live here because i have to... I'm 15... so yea don't have much of a choice. But i'll give you some good reasons.......The people here are jerks. Really really mean must be a sideeffect of the heat... Who knows......... And there are many many cholos ,,, well tons of them. So if you are an older person moveing here you won't wan't to be bothered by mexican gangsters. There nott badd, not like they will come up to you just to shoot you for no reason... but more annoying than anything else. They think there all cool' and stuff kinda showoffs and they try to act hardcore. And another type of people , that will DRIVE ANYBODY CRAZY. the dreaded name. EMOS. If you don't know what a emo is then lett me tell you. They like black, wear all the time. No not a gothic, not a punker eitha'. They also wear tight pants and they usally wear there hair to the side covering up half there face. They are REALLY REALLY SAD. Like they hate life ect.... blah blah blah ... and the guys usally wear black eye liner. They can really drive adults crazy. but yeah those are like the two main youger people groups that can clash with the older people . basically ther is two races of people here mexican and white. oh yeah did i forget to mention... the MAJOR DRUG PROBLEM here. yep meth.everywhere. people will see tweakas' just walking down the street and its normal. People see it all the time. Its kinda crazy. You will see freakin tweekers walking in the 117 degree heat on the highway and they are in sweats and a sweater and it don't bother them because well drugs f ya up. Any body can gett drugs here it is sooo easy. and thats the main crime you have to worry about around here, is that a tweek' will come up to you and mug you or something and its really sadd to see these people like this. But well its normal here. But its the older people who do meth around here' but allmost all of the teenagers here do pot. So if any of ya peole have kids they will be exposed to drugs alot. No madder how much you try to protect them from it. Also the cops round here like to gett people for dumb reasons. Thats how bored they are i geuss. But be very careful' because if you look like a shady person or poor cops will sometimes plant s%*# in ya car. As in they sometimes will putt meth or pot in your car to bust you. And you can't defend youre self so then your *****ed. So as a piece of advice to anybody here' Don't go to bullhead. |

I thought AZ was a red state--conservative and Republican and all that. I thought that meant that everyone had great "family values" and was "personally responsible." So why so many drugs and the attendant crime?
Why is meth such a problem there? Don't they do anything to try to control it? |

Thanks for the info, Tina. I had wondered about the meth problem, if it was big in BHC. I have heard it's getting bad all over but I haven't seen much here in Chicago yet...I hear it's coming though. Definitely in the outlying areas of Illinois.
Arizona or other, it's supposed to be nearing epidemic levels. This is because that when it was starting to show itself as a real problem, around 1996, the "administration" was busy misusing cigars, hiding females under desks and staining dresses. Also, the FDA played a little game with the drug manufacturers allowing them to continue to use the chemicals in their cold medication products, until it was too late. Then the FDA banned one chemical but allowed the drug companies to use another chemical which was also useful in Meth manufacturing. Meth is supposedly INSTANTLY addictive so it is definitely here to stay until the government, local and federal, stop playing games and start handing down massive, long, long, long jail sentences on everyone involved in the stuff. How about MANDATORY LIFE IN PRISON for ANYONE manufacturing meth IN ANY QUANTITY? How about mandatory life in prison also for ANYONE distributing Meth in any quantity? And then MAYBE...ONE...opportunity at a rehab instead-of-jail program for those first time arrestees, after which addicts (or anyone) in possession of Meth start doing mandatory hard time in prison? Somebody, really needs to do something...soon! Politicians everywhere need to step up to the plate. And if you think that Meth doesn't effect you, according to reports, the LARGE MAJORITY of property crimes (residential burglary, home invasions, etc) are committed by Meth addicts as well as plenty of violent crimes. Anyone, knowing what's in Meth (Liquid Drano, etc, etc, etc.) or knowing how addictive it is (no such thing as recreational use, everyone getting into it knows that full well since it's other addicts giving it to them) is a complete and total idiot, bottom line! And they deserve hard punishment for being stupid! This isn't weed, people! Last edited by no user name; 07-28-2006 at 07:17 PM. |

wow, are you kidding? Just because we are a red state doesn't mean anything. We are not ALL red, I'm certainly not and there are many who are not as well. It's almost 50/50 here. I have values, am personally responsible, and do not do drugs, but I am also a democrat. Do those really not mix? Look at CA, they are a red state and they are a lot worse off than us. I suggest not looking at who is "red" or "blue" as it's not about that. We are still human and we are not DEFINED by our political opinions. |
