bullheadcitygirl is on a distinguished road
I have lived in Bullhead City for 23 years. I attended Bullhead Jr. High and Mohave high... The city has grown alot.. and is still growing.. ( I remember when we had one traffic light) There is good and bad about everywhere you live.

Some people like the heat, while others dont. If you like the heat then Bullhead is the place to be. It gets to be 130 degrees in the summer. Remember never belive the the weather on tv. they will always say its a few degrees cooler then it really is. Due to they dont want to scare the people. Summers are spent at the lake or in doors.... There is alot of drugs in BHC and alot of Illigial immagints. But there is alot of good people to. Winters are crazy with the snowbirds.. Driving with them is a scary trip on its own. Summers are pretty crazy on the roads also with all the Calif. people down.

Home prices are terrible.. But if you live in Calif. then there pretty good. Do not buy a home in Riviera... Its on the bad side of Handcock. and dont buy in old bullhead city either. Holiday shores is a good place and fort mohave. As for Bugs.. There arnt that many at all... We do have Sqorpions, and Trantuals, Lots and Lots of lizards. Ants... Hardly any flys... We do have snakes.. But the sqorpions ,snakes, trantulas are out of the city. If you live where there is no contruction going on the chances of you seeing them is very slim... I have seen snakes on the mirical mile road and that is it. Never seen a trantula there and only seen a scorpion once. (in the casino) Cockroakes yes we do have alot of them... and Water Beetles ewwwwww yes...

There isnt alot of places for kids or teens to go in bullhead. Most of them sad to say hang out at the casinos since that is the only place that has somthing for them. Bullhead city and Laughlin Nv. are not family orintated.

There is alot of good about bullhead but there is bad also as if in anyplace. Depends on what you like. I personaly hate the extream heat, I wanted my kids to spend the last few years in highschool at a good school. ( Mohave High is AWFUL) I want them to attend a good collage. and not get stuck in the Casino life, As I did... And if you dont mind the color Brown bullhead is the place to be. There is no green there. belive it or not some people will paint rocks in there front yard green to look like grass. or use indoor outdoor carpet. Anyways I finialy left bullhead and moved to the midwest. I Love it here... But im sure there are people here that hate it hehe. So you need to go by what you want and like. Dont take others comments in stone till you see what your opinon is. And as for visiting its ALOT diffrent then living there.

Good luck and Best wishes to anyone that decides Bullhead is the place to be. Maybe it is exacualy what your looking for.

Well, I've been gone for a while but still interested in getting out of Chicago and still maybe into Bullhead City despite the cockroaches and water bugs...gad!
Was looking at something in Fort Mojave, anyone know much about there?
Population, demographics, crime rate, drugs, etc? Good areas or bad areas to stay away from? More bugs there than Bullhead (I assume so since it's on the river)?
Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Fort Mohave is not more on the river than Bullhead or Mohave Valley, the river runs down the west side of all three. One thing to watch in Fort Mohave is that you are actually purchasing the land under your home. Many land leases in that area since it is partially Indian reservation.

Good point! I was going to ask about that as the little I was able to find out about the area, indicated that the reservation was leasing land.
Based on the asking price of the home I was considering, it seems to reflect a land purchase but I don't know for sure.
Is it actually possible to purchase land on a reservation?
Any other information about Fort Mojave?
Thanks

By the way, I was finally able to sign on to my old user name...not sure why it requires 15 attempts.

If you are looking at a listing, it should say whether it is leased land or not. If you look up the address on the Mohave tax rolls, it will list the owner as the Fort Mohave Indian Tribe. If you look at a map, the area is a checkerboard. One square is reservation, the next square is not. It is possible that the land is included on the house you are looking at, only certain subdivisions are leased land. The only thing we have been told about the area is that they use crop dusters on the Indian areas and you need to keep your cars covered. I don't know if that is accurate or not, just something a realtor told us. I think that buying on leased land might make the resale harder, but that is not what the realtors told us.

Thanks for the information, very helpful.
Do you know anything about the safety of Fort Mojave, population, etc? You know, like most of the areas in Bullhead City with Riviera in their names are crummier than say Holiday Shores, for example?
There's nothing here on City-Data.com but maybe you know of another site that'll get into demographics?
By the way, crop dusting is chemicals/fertilizers, right? Wouldn't the concern be more for ones personal well being rather than that of an automobiles finish?
Or is it not supposed to be dangerous?

There is not a lot out there specifically on Fort Mohave, or any of Mohave county for that matter. Even on here, most of the info is on Phoenix or Tucson. Northern Arizona has a lot of towns but it is difficult to find any forums dedicated to northern Arizona. Topix.net has forums that lead you to believe they are city specific, but actually many posts cross between cities. You might try putting Fort Mohave in the subject line on either this forum or topix and see if you get more answers. Also try the mohavedailynews.com newspaper site. And sperlings best places has bullhead stats.

I think the crop dusting probably isn't good for your health either. Maybe most of it is at night and therefore the car paint concern. I only know that the realtors we talked to mentioned it. For all I know, it's not a problem at all, just realtor babble.

Default Crop Dusting Material falling On My Property???

Wow! If the realtor admitted that there is enough crop dusting material falling there that you have to cover your vehicles, that would be a major concern to me! God Almighty, that IS a major concern!

My feeling was that the realtors we were talking to, had no listings of their own in Fort Mohave or Mohave Valley. Their point was that Bullhead wouldn't have that problem. I would research on my own before I would take a realtors statement at face value. Their main objective is to sell you a house. I know for a fact that at times we have been told something that is absolutely not true. I don't think the realtor lied on purpose, they just passed on info that they had heard and hadn't checked out.
