Default What do you think about living in Flagstaff instead of Phoenix?

Good or bad idea? Why?

Well, unless you provide some basis for your question, and some information, I'd say it's a good idea for some people, and a bad idea for others...

depends on what you are looking for

the climates are completely different, the cities are laid out completely different, the style of life is completely different, the sizes are completely different

it's not like they are commutable either

would really matter to the individual - i like flagstaff and typically would prefer their weather over that down here, however the job market is tough, cost of living relatively high and it's way too small for me

Are you saying the job market in Phoenix is worse, or the other way around? Also, how do the costs of living compare?

The job market in Phoenix is bad with Flagstaff worse. Flag is a smaller town with few large corporations but there is the college, a large hospital, etc. Cost of living in Flag is high.

As far as life in either, I'd say they are about as opposite as you can get while being only hours from one another.

Do you like mountains or desert? Do you like snow? How about summer extreme heat? Where are you going to work? What do you like to do for fun?

They're like comparing apples and oranges. Phoenix is a metro area of over 4 million people in the Sonoran desert. Flag is a small town of approximately 200,000 people in the mountains.

Well, as everyone has told you it's night and day differences.

But, for starters take a look at the climate averages and that may help you make up your mind.

Phoenix~ Average Weather for Phoenix, AZ - Temperature and Precipitation

Flagstaff~ Average Weather for Flagstaff, AZ - Temperature and Precipitation

From there ask some specific questions and I am sure you will get answers.

Yes each has its own strengths and weakness

I liked living in Flag for the outdoor recreational activities and surely not the traffic from NAU students.

Phoenix has a lot to offer if you enjoy city life going to shows and having everything you might need at your disposal. including sky harbor airport.
There is hiking and outdoor recreation as well its just more difficult during the summer months.
