Billionaire buying Xanterra link

I keep my eyes open for N AZ news

I believe that Williams is drilling new wells and the Theme park would have to be environmentally and ECO friendly to be approved,so they may used recycled water or some kind of chemical(like portable restrooms have used for years) and they would sell a lot of bottled water.

I'm confused. Is there a connection between the Denver billionaire buying Xanterra Resorts and GCNAE?

The new theme park is sounding better all the time . . . porta potties (on a hot summer day or with ice on the rim in the winter . . and no facilities for Biker Bill to wash his hands ). What more could a girl ask for?

back in the 90s Williams spent millions trying to find water . no luck . if the "Theme Park " does go through , where will the water come from? will they rob it from the city that is short of water now . if you enter the city from West on exit 161 and look to the right you willsee on a hilltop a big water holding tank . that tan is filled during the night for motel guests use during the day . that wa it prevents a big strain during daily use from supply . what it boils down to is that the Park is a pipe dream , and if it passes and gets built you can bet sombody got a big payoff .

Talking environmentalists and progress

Why does it always seem that environmentalists can never be satisfied?
If water is used it is bad, if water is not used(chemical toilets) it is also bad.
Sorry folks progress will happen, you can slow it down but you will never stop it!!!!!!!!
With respect to a billionaire buying Xanterra,I believe he has the resources to help develop Northern Arizona into a more tourist friendly area, which would be a very good thing for our state even though I know how much the tree huggers hate progress.
I happen to like the idea of progress in Northern AZ,as an American I believe I have right to be able to express my desire for eco-friendly progress.
Sorry if you do not agree but to bad.

Question Improved Project but Questions Remain

Whether or not the theme park gets built is going to be the result of what the feasibility studies show and the financial backing of the project. Evidently the initial studies have been done and GCNAE is pleased with the results. The scaled-down project seems much more suited for the Williams climate and sounds like it will add retail and cultural venues, with the more traditional type "amusement park" slated for Phoenix, which really needs a "Six Flags" kind of park.

Here's a link to the most recent news article I could find on the project. Denied:1up! Software (Even though the link to the Williams News looks strange, it seems to work.) I do wish that GCNAE would reveal a little more about the infrastructure needed for the development and the availability of water in that area. Since the park isn't to be in a heavily treed area, maybe they have a water source available. ???

The other issue I would like to know more about is where the employee base will come from. Their website indicates 1,000 jobs. Since there is typically a large turnover in these types of jobs, I'm curious where the employee base will come from. Obviously college students are an ideal source, but with the rising cost of gas, I'm wondering if wages will be high enough to lure them to make the 30+ mile drive (one-way). ???

Exlexisnexis, you seem to know a lot of the details about the project. What's the plan for water and employees? The project itself seems much improved over the original concept.

Wink Theme Park details

Gretchen, sorry but I do not have the details on water and employment.
Millions of people visit the Grand Canyon and where do we get the water or employees for that. They use water sparingly, water saver showers, water saver toilets etc. Employees live on site for months at a time like Disney.
I would however like to point out that if you look at previous articles about the theme park (I am not allowed to post them here and do not know if the links are active)The park was originally proposed to be fully green or completely environmentally friendly. This is smart because there is no way if would be approved unless it was.The initial plans for the park have been changed and downgraded several times over the past 3 years to try to win more favourable treatment with Coconino county but with little success.
Today a Rock and Roll Theme park was approved and I think it took less than 1 year to get full approval because it was not in Coconino county.
I wish they would move the Williams Theme Park to Ash Fork because they would not face the same resistance in Yavapai county.

i get the drift that you might be calling me an enviromentalist(sp). on the contrary. you sound exaperated that the chinks in the plans are being pointed out . one version is that the theme park will be alloted 700 acre feet of water from Williams .
stopping progres ?? heaven forbid that the will of the people will stop a mega rich from bilding the park so they can milk a few more shekels out of the tourists .
move the park to Ash Fork ? are you serious or is that showing the desparation ? wha an absurd idea ! Ash Fork has no more water than Williams . while we are on the water subject , who will pay to drill for more wells in Williams . the taxpayers ? the mega rich ? the answr is that the city council will be wined , dined and outright bribed to have the taxpayers foot the bill . for the good of the community of course ?

According to my poll almost 70% are supportive of the Theme park. You are in a small minority if you oppose it. The Democratic rule supports a majority victory.

70% support the theme park ?? why do you not know that polls are easier to rig than an election in Chicago during Mayor Daley's reign there .
