Default Vulture mine near Wickenburg AZ

Can anyone tell me anything about the Vulture mine near Wickenburg. My dad and his family worked there during the great depression and shortly after it. He always had fond stories to tell about the area and even spoke of the "hanging tree" where if you were caught stealing gold from the mine you were hung from a tree very near the opening of the mine itself. I hear it is now a tourist destination and they actually give you a long stick for the self guided tour.... the stick is provided in the off chance you come across a rattlesnake!!!!

I was there last year.. Its really cool- Does have the hanging tree still as well as in the Summer there are snakes everywhere according to the owner.. We went in the spring though and they were still hibernating or whatever snakes do in the cold.. Its a small fee and you get a map and its a self tour. When I was there there was a bunch of "ghost hunters" there in which they were doing a night study due to all the "spirt-activity" at night.

It was really a cool experience- I would like to go back as there was a lot to see- Just make sure you wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking!
