Well years ago the pond at our house used to be beautiful, open, full of fish and vegetation. The pond has been deglected over the last decade and become overgrown with cattails and various other plants.

The main reason this has been left like this is because my uncle lives 2 houses away (about an 1/8 mile) and he has an autistic child (my cousin) who is very smart, very cool kid. But very very explorative to say the least lol... so we did not want him to wander off and risk falling in the pond, he doesn't even know it exists.

Now that someone will be living down there fulltime, I would like to revive the pond, open her up and bring it back to healthy. Not sure exactly how to go about this, just remove all the cat tails and clean the vegetation up?

Anything special that needs to be added to the water? There is a well pump to keep the pond water circulating... Just never had to revive a pond before, much less in the Arizona Climate....

Thanks for any input!

I doubt the methods I used in Indiana, would apply to Arizona ponds, but try these folks, maybe they can point you in the right direction: az gardens

Or call the local County Educator at the County Extension Service for recommendations.
