Just thought Id throw that out there...
I saw a show on Discovery or some such channel that said there is a huge problem with venomous snakes in Florida because people are importing snakes. So maybe there's not very many venomous snakes native to Florida, but from the show it sounded like there is a growing population. There are many snake bites occurring and hospitals don't always have the antivenom (or is it antivenin?). I don't know how accurate this is, however.

Thats true, most definitely. Abandoned pythons are upsetting the Everglades' natural order, and king cobras have also been found in Florida, but theyre not becoming established, just abandoned pets. One of Florida's scorpion species was actually imported from South America (Centruroides gracilis) and same for their only tarantula species (Brachypelma vagans).

Scorpians get stomped
Black Widows get stomped
Centipedes get stomped
Harvester ants get Amdroed
Wasps get Raided
Rattlesnakes get sent to the Serpentes nirvana (shovel or shotgun)

Geckos, King snakes, Bull Snakes, Tarantulas, toads, Tiger salamanders, are all welcome.

I know you need to eliminate the scorpions food source to help keep them away. Has anyone used anything with any success in keeping the scorpions at bay?
I'd have to say perma-frost.

Default Where did you find a blk light flashlight?

I've looked for them but unable to locate and would like the mobility of checking my house for scorpions.

Thank you

Do you guys have Gander Mountain stores out in AZ? If so, check their fishing section. Fisherman uses fish lines that flouresce so they can fish at night, and sometimes they sell these really nice portable blacklights in the fishing supplies section of the store. I bought one many years back and its my best friend when Im in AZ. It has twin blacklight tubes that are very powerful (Ive seen scorpions 15-20' away using it), and it also has a normal flashlight head on it too, which makes it nice to check for rattlers before I turn the lights off and blacklight for scorpions, 'cuz rattlers dont glow.

If you need information on these pesky little critters, (Scorpions) you check with Gerogia at gclubb@cox.net ,she will inlighten you on these little guys, and in depth. What ever you do, do not use Diatomaceous Earth. Check her site out!

Hi..
What I'd like to see is... when some one mentions they have
seen these critters in or around thier home, please mention
where "home" is. thanks...
Is there less of a problem with scorpions and such in towns or
cities that sit at a higher elevation.. have colder winters,
say like Prescott Sedona/Cotttonwood?
Thanks Folks!

We had lots of scorpions in the Cottonwood area near the foothills.
