Default Arizona among cheapest states for auto insurance

I often see comments on C-D that AZ has high auto insurance rates. This surprises me, because my own rates are significantly lower than my relatives in other states pay. I saw this today and it shows that, in fact, AZ is among the least expensive states for auto insurance. Of course, there are many, many variables in rates and individual cases will all be different.

I wonder how accurate their figures are. I pay $566 for a full year in TN, full coverage. They show TN as $1228. That's over double of what I pay. If their figures for AZ are correct, I'm going to be paying a lot more in AZ than I do in TN.

$1218 for two 2012 Fords, one an Explorer, I don't know is AZ is the cheapest but it has to be one of the cheapest. That's as much as my property taxes

There was a time when Arizona was one of the most expensive states for auto insurance. A lot of it had to do with the high number of uninsured drivers, and the amount of car thefts. I don't know what's keeping Arizona more reasonable now, but whatever it causing it is great news for drivers. I wonder if the increased competition from national insurance giants like Geico, Nationwide, and Progressive have something to do with the lower rates. Back in the days when Arizona was near the top in insurance costs, these companies were hardly even heard of.

I'm sure competition amongst insurers has had something to do with lowered rates, but my money's on SB1070 - Geico, Progressive, Nationwide, et. al have been around far longer than that juicy little bit of new legislation, and the recent rough patch that the unskilled labor market's going through...

Well, I have had full coverage since 2000 and when I moved to WA in 2004 my rates went up and my coverage went down. I particularly liked the free glass coverage in AZ, though don't know if that would still apply. Farmer's

Just sayin'

Insurance rates are based on location location location just like house are. Each insurance changs their rates to reflect the area the insured is in

The state minimum coverage dollar amounts are pitifully low here, probably so low that many people who *think* they are covered are pretty surprised when they get sued after a covered accident is paid and the bills are more than their coverage amount. Not trying be a wet blanket, but for what you're getting (unless you upgrade), it should be cheap.

Arizona is ranked 42 on expense while California is ranked 9th. I pay the same rate in both states. The thing that drives me nuts is emissions testing. Who is CBS trying to fool?
