Default Bullhead City

Who here lives in the area and can give some honest opinions of the area. I have worked Casino Security and have been offered a job in the area, and was wondering if its worth the move. Tell me the good the bad and the ugly of it all.

Muhnay,

If you go to the Nevada forum, there are 3 or 4 threads about Laughlin/BHC. They will likely give you more info on the area than you care to know!

There's a LOT of "ugly" there, according to many.

I am thinking of moving to Laughlin myself (making a recon trip next week,) so I have been following the chat board for it closely for awhile now.

BHC seems to be "the wrong side of the tracks" when compared to Laughlin - although I understand that it too has it's nice areas.

It is cheaper to rent there than in Laughlin, but Meth related crime is supposed to be rampant in most of BHC.

So I am looking to live in Laughlin - if I do decide to move to the area; and will know a lot more about things after next week.

Do check out the Nevada forum, as I believe you'll get all the info you can use.

Thanks Low Rider.. yeah meth seems to follow the Casino's.. it was a big issue in Gulfport and Biloxi MS where I worked Casino security.

I will look for more info over there.. funny how BHC gets more attention in a state forum thats not its home state.. lol.

Muhnay,

Oopsie on my part!

I got my forums confused. Sorry.

I've been going back and forth between the two for a couple months now, so got them mixed up.

If you will go to the 4th page of THIS forum, you will find the two threads I was talking about.

Also keep in mind that the summer heat gets to the 120's there on occasion, so if you're not used to that kind of heat it could make things rough on you.

Good luck!

I live in El Paso TX born and raise.. 120 is pretty normal for us too.. and hey thats what the river and pools there are for. I would rather have the nice dry heat of Bullhead City over the Humid Hot Mississippi Gulf Coast.

If you go to the threads that Low Roller mentioned, you will see my posts there. I would put it here, but they are pretty long and drawn out lol

If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me a direct message. I have lived here almost 20 years and there isn't too much I don't know about the area.

Bullhead is cheaper housing, especially for what you can get for the money. Bullhead is much more developed. Yes, there is a meth problem in this whole area, not just Bullhead. Bullhead gets a bad rap because this is where the largest population is...however, meth is just as bad in Laughlin, Ft Mohave, Mohave Valley and even Golden Valley...Kingman too for that matter.
The crime isn't really as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Most of the meth related crime is among the meth heads themselves.
If you have school aged children...that could be a cause for concern...the schools pretty well suck around here! Believe me, I have 4 kids...I know the schools.
The heat is the only real threat around here. I don't know much about El Paso, however, the Bullhead City heat is nothing to take lightly.
The casinos are the major source of industry/jobs. The casinos are now finally starting to pay a bit more than they used to since Arizona's minimum wage went up earlier this year! You can go to Laughlin and work fast food and make $9.00 hour to start! Minimum wage in Bullhead (Arizona) is $6.75.

Like I said, if you have any specific questions, please feel free to dm me. I don't always come to the Arizona forum...I'm usually in the religious forum , so I WILL get your dm and answer you asap.

Good luck!

Default About Bullhead....

I've recently moved from there to Golden Valley, and thank god, too! I hated it! I would rather be in Laughlin, though, if you are considering Bullhead. It's smaller, quieter, and did I mention, it's cleaner? And you'll be close to the casinos! You'll do shopping in Bullhead, but then, out here, I go into Kingman for my goodies, and it's well worth the gas spent! Bullhead has its nice parts, but I just found it crowded and dirty. I lived in Holiday Shores off of Yale and Holly Streets. It used to be nice in there, but when we were leaving, it was getting run down and nasty looking, in my opinion, anyway. I know we all see things through our own eyes, but that's how I saw it and my sis too! It's not the same! I feel Bullhead is getting run down looking in areas where it used to be nice. And the parks! Awful! The schools, too! Awful! Though I have heard that school on the Parkway was nice and Diamondback. Every city has its good and bad, I just thought Bullhead had too much bad for me. To each their own. I'm now where I want to be, so good luck! Oh! Golden Valley and Kingman have their own problems, too!

I was in BHC from February 2005 till August 2006 then decided to return to the Phx area.

And the irony was I was actually making OK $$$ in Ft Mohave so it was not the lack of 'coin' that prompted me to leave.

That stated; I may be heading back to Mohave Co (Kingman) in a year or two.

Just need to clear some bills first.
