I lived and worked there for three years. If you're going to moe there be careful of renting or buying an old meth house. A good deal of drugs in the town. The retired folks who come for the winter don't know that. They think it's a cute little place with lots of really nice people. The best attraction besides the flowering beauty of the desert is the quality of the clean air. Before you move there, spend a week, a week-end, or an hour.

I am also moving to Ajo. Is there a good or bad part of town to stay away from? How is cell service? Any nice rentals on the edge of town? How about any radio stations? Rock/country?

God bless you, have you been reading all the posts about Ajo? Virtually no positive comments. Even for this forum, that's rare. Do you have your heart set on Ajo??? Ajo or bust?

I don't think there are any country radio stations in English down there. You may be able to pick up a station or 2 from Tucson, I can't give you an approximate answer though.

There is internet though, so you could listen to online radio stations. But for the most part, Ajo is pretty desolate. The biggest thing there is the Border Patrol station, just south of Ajo on 85.

Ajo is nothing like Charlotte, NC. Ajo, with an annual rainfall of 8", having a lawn for kids to play on would be a luxury, and is not required for kids to have fun playing outside. It seems like you have a problem with your friend living and working there, ask her for her reasoning.

Ajo has a Valley Metro bus route that goes to Phoenix, so that's a small positive about this place.
